Site spells help!

Hi all, I was wondering how can we tell between the fluff spells and the real spells that have been posted by credible and experienced practitioners.

It’s a little bit frustrating because I am sure that there are some treasures that could be found that were posted by respectable experienced serious practitioners but they are jumbled between some fluff and I don’t just mean the vampire and mermaid spells.

Is there a way to filter the content in the spell section so it can be more helpful?

Thank you and blessed be

A fluff spell is basically a spell that is impossible to do. It defies the laws of physics.

A fluff spell can usually contain the follwing:

  • Chaning hair color, eye color, skin color (etc.)
  • Turning into a mythical creature (Werewolf, Vampire, Mermaid, etc.)
  • Flying, Telekenesis, Teleportation (etc.)
  • Freezing Powers, Fire balls, Ice rods from the hands (etc.)
  • And much more.

It is very frustrating, but overtime people will come to their senses. I'm not sure if there is a way to fliter it out except having common sense and realizing good from bad, and you seem like you have that capability to do that.

Basically if they have titles with those listed or they simply don't make sense don't pay attention to them.

If you would have looked carefully those spells are already filtered into the fantasy section

Thank you but what I meant was how can I differentiate between spells posted by begginers and spells posted by trusted experienced practitioners... I am aware that all vampire mermaid etc spells are fluff obviously ... I am just wondering about the rest .... since anyone can post how do I know what is a fake spell and what is a tried and trusted spell that was posted by someone who knows what they are doing.

Thank you

One litmus test is to be aware of the quality of the writing. People who want to present valid information usually take the time to present it well. Ie; it has been edited and formatted to be easily read. If the writer couldn't be bothered to make paragraphs or run things through a spell-checker, then there is a good chance the writer was similarly lazy with the magical understanding behind the spell as well. (spell checker... hah. I love unintentional puns)

A good writer also goes into the right kind of detal. Useful instruction takes into account the audience reading it. It might have specific symbols, optional influences, a defined and ordered process, and maybe some history if it is relevant. They also rarely work in absolutes. If a spell defines itself as 'the best' or 'the only', or if it gives a 'guarenteed' result (usually in a certain number of days), then that should raise a warning flag.

Now, of course you should bear in mind that there are always people who don't have much writing skill, or might not be fluent in english. ... Or might have even just thrown their good writing through google translate and hoped for the best. So the most important factor is your own best judgement. Think of these details as warning signs to tell you it is time to do some conscious evaluating. And as you come into your own learning and understanding, you might be able to take a 'poor' spell and apply it to your knowledge to adapt it into a more valid one.

All in all, it is actually best to treat every spell as a point of inspiration and guidance... rather than a bespoke instruction.
