Wand material

I have never owned a wand before and recently a wand caught my eye it’s made of acrylic and resin, I felt some kind of connection with it but my concern is most people use wands made of wood I have never heard people using this kind of wands. So, is it okay to use wands made of other materials?

Hi Olivia, I think that most wands for magical purposes should be made of natural materials. Acrylic resins are forms of plastic and could act like an insulator like it is for electricity, for magic energies too. just my opinion.

maybe you could try to recreate it out of wood that means something to you and as such you could have a stronger connection to it since it is one of a kind and your energy and emotions would flow into it as you craft it.

I have heard of constructed weands by placing a variety of crystals into an acryllic mold, it isn't as unviable as people might think. Especially if it is done in a thoughtful way. Acryllic itself is indeed a pretty neutral substance, but I (personally) dont find that it interfears with the movement of energy either. it's just sort of ... there. Like a window for sunlight it doesn't block it, but doesn't channel it either.

Though there are some interesting things that can be done with acryllics. For example people construct energy generators by placing a quantity of different varieties of quartz into a form, with some metal shavings (for conductivity) and a couple of copper pipes rising up like antennae. then filling the bottom of the form with resin. As the resin dries it compresses on itself, creating a constant pressure on the quartz. Quartz is naturally piezoelectric, meaning that it generates energy from pressure. So the action of the resin induces a generation of energy that is then conducted up the copper.

A similar principle could be applied to a long, slender form like the shape of a wand. Just place the crystals in a linear alignment and perhaps run a conducting metal along the full length like silver or copper wire. Have the wire at the base of the form just a little longer than what the resin covers so you can back-wrap it over the handle part to give physical contact of the hand to the wire. And have the wire go to the very tip of the wand, trimming it after the resin has hardened to expose the very tip of the metal.

Hope this helps! ^_^

A wand is meant to help one direct and amplify energy. Any cylindrical object that comes to a point can be considered a wand no matter it's construction. Some materical may be better than others however it is really up to the practitioner as to the type of wand they use. I've used a wooden spoon as a wand as well as a screwdriver during the construction process. As I held these items and used them to stir food or attach one thing to another I was directing energy through them into the final creation. In my eyes it's about intention more than the materical used for the wand.

I have found the wand I am going to use, first it was in my head, then I saw it on a deas rose bush branch, now I am getting the items I need to craft it, the drawing was made long ago, and now It's time to start crafting. Are there any rituals i need to do before, during or after crafting my wand? I am new and need advise?

It is common to consecrate magical tools. This is done by cleansing the tool and then declaring the tool sacred. If you are constructing the tool you can cleanse the items prior to creating the tool and then when its finished declare the tool sacred.

That question would be better relegated to its own post.
