Basics for a beginner

Hello everyone. I'm here for some advice.
I started a thread yesterday, I asked for some advice, you know, which spell could I use to make someone like me (in a non-harmful, non obsessive, non will-forcing way, heh). Somebody suggested I should try the Honey Jar. But now, I've a few questions... Nope, I haven't tried the honey jar yet.

You can surely tell, I'm a beginner. And I'd like some advice. First of all, I know I should know the basics, could someone give me a few tips, and maybe suggest some book or manual about the basics? I'd love to learn. Second: is there any trick to make a honey jar? It seems so easy, according to the instructions... I've a few doubts... For example: what happens if I don't have the oil for the candle? Does it work anyway? What happens if I open the jar? I can't add anything else after I closed it, I'm guessing. Should I lit a candle per day for how many days?

Thank you :)

Magic is not necessarily casting spells. Magic is affecting change through the power of one's will.

Also, casting a spell is more than having ingredients and repeating a chant.

I don't see your other post in your history; has it been deleted?

Any way, there are some good threads about the basics on this forum, in the General Info section. The pinned threads are some fairly good basic information.

all the steps involve visualization and doing actions that add power to what youre doing.

If you cant see the positive effects, youre not sure its going to work, then it probably wont work.

Try this: get into what youre doing. Talk to each ingredient to tell it what it should do for you. Visualize each of those effects.

Dressing the candle is a ritual action, get into the ritual, feel energy being added to the components from your hands.

Dont open the jar and no you cant add anything after its closed. Spend a lot of time, energy and mindfulness into what youre doing.

Meditate and visualize the steps, how you relate to the components and most importantly the effect you want the work to do. Put thought and energy into.

But youre the only one whos gonna know or care if you did it right ...dont worry about doing right so much as getting the results you want. just dont obsess over it. let the energy do its work.

youre supposed to work the jar. so not just shaking it, but talknig to it, visualizing etc etc...place it in the sun when you can.

Its not like dumping ingredients in a jar and burning some candles is going to "fix" a situation, but casting a spell with mindfulness and care, with a really good intention for other people to be happy. Thats a good thing. Just do that.

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

A friend recently turned me onto a site with an endless supply of books, on magic and all sorts of related topics. Its darkbooks.org and its not just dark magic as the name implies. It is a huge selection of books, all free and downloadable. They also have an option to order them on CD's, also free(maybe pay shipping I'm not sure). Go there and start looking!
That goes for all on this site! I've downloaded quite a few already on my tablet and not had a problem with running out of space.

If you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig
