Happy Easter I guess then, does it ever feel weird to anyone else here that some of us still follow christian holiday's? I mean I have to because I still live with my parents (16years-old) and haven't told them I am Wicca. Although I'm certain that they're suspicious of me, by the way good Friday is my least favorite holiday. Just though I'd throw that out there.

It's not that weird if you consider that modern day Easter celebrations also include the Easter Bunny which can be linked to Ostara much like the Christmas tree originated as a Yule tree. For me Easter celebrations (as in the Christian version) are more of a traditional/cultural experience than a religious one having grown up in a town with a localized Easter festival that continues to beckon people from all parts of my island each year (I live in the Caribbean)

Oh, dear! The misunderstandigs of tradition. The Easter "bunny" was actually a Hare! At this time of year, hares would be mating. Hares live in " hollows", rather than the burrows of rabbits. Very often, free ranging hens would lay eggs in these "hollows", and that led to the belief that hares laid eggs.
Which is why we have Easter Eggs.

I'm 50/50 on the whole thing. It is based off a pagan holiday and it's a big holiday for my family, not to mention most countries take the day off [but I work it and get time and a half woohoo!] While I celebrated Ostara last week, it doesn't upset me if someone wishes me a happy Easter or I'm invited to an Easter dinner with family. People are nice enough to wish you a fun holiday and you can spend some time with loved ones eating too much lol.

Happy Easter/Ostara/whatever everyone!
