a better reading

hello guys I am new to tarot readings. I have just bought a tarot deck and wanted to give it a try.
the first question I had in mind was, 'are paganism and tarot reading the right path for me?' . so I have tried one of the spreads from the book.(I havent perform a ritual to personnalize the deck as the book suggested.) so the book says that this spread is used to analyze a situation.
4
1 5 3
2

first card:what is appropriate for the who seeks consult.
second card: what is not appropriate.
third card: the crucial point of the situation.
fourth card: how is the situation gonna take place
fifth card: the final result.

this is the spread as the book suggest.

so these are the cards that I got:

1. strenght
2. ten of swords
3. judgement
4. king of wands
5. knight of wands

so as I said this was the first time that I used the deck and the first time that I have made a reading. I was surprised that I didnt get any reversed cards.

Can anyone make any further commentary for me?

First Tarot reading is not a path,it's a practice practiced by hundreds of paths world wide,to some it's merely and interest and Hobby, some folks collect decks like comic books or baseball cards
Some people are pagans and others like myself are not, actually many
Of the people who made Tarot a famous divination method came from a strongly Christian backround such as Waide and Levi, even Crowley originally. Two you need to learn, practice and study before getting accurate readings, the cards are not Magick
As rumored they are a learned Skill..Study for a while and practice before giving yourself readings

The deck should of come with a book [or a tiny booklet inside the box] that should help you with what each card means. This site should help you out: http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/

There are many ways people go about using tarot cards, but did you cleanse and charge the cards before use? Many who read believe energy rubs off on the cards and you need to [for lack of a better word] personalize the deck with your energy before you can use it properly. You should study each card and get a 'feel' for it. It will help you understand your deck better and [it's believed] give better, more accurate readings.

As for your question, keep in mind the futures always changing and this may or may not be the right path for you right now. One day things might change. Overall your reading seems positive, you want to do it but your afraid [Which is understandable with change] you will have an 'aha!' at some point which will lead you to a wonderful place.

If I were you I would sit down and write a list of pros and cons and figure out why you wan to do this, then research to figure out if it speaks to you, and if it does, then start practicing. I do suggest if you're a minor to tell your parents and explain why you came to this conclusion. Good luck to you.

I came to understand stand the cards by making my own book
I read several books, then wrote down all 78 cards
I picked my favorite meanings for all of the cards
And wrote down the meaning of upright and reversed to get a basic understanding. Then I would look at the cards deeply until one clicked and discovered what they actually meant to me and wrote them down, then next I tried to figure out how to connect the cards so they can work off of each other to make the readings make sense and tell their stories,a lot goes Into learning but once you do a steange Thing happens you keep learning more from them, you add color meanings and card numbers and how to decipher the suits etc
Just keep playing with them and reading up and when day it will click.I strongly suggest you start your own Tarot Journal.

Good point, I've got 4 books with slightly different means for the same card. It's good to read the book to know the meaning, but you should get a feel for each card and gain a deeper understanding.
