Books by Kenaz Filan is good.

The book Vodou Quantum Leap: Alternate realities,Power and Mysticism by Reginald Crosley is a good read if you have a good idea about Vodou already.

Divine Horseman: The Divine Gods of Haiti by Maya Deren would be a good book, there is also a documentary by her named the same as the book.

Regardless if Divine Horseman: The Divine Gods of Haiti by Maya Deren is a "good book". It is a rather a outdated book and the author Maya Deren died in 1961. This book was published in 1983.

The two recommendations I posted are great especially Kenaz Filan for someone that is just getting started.

Although it may be considered an "outdated book", it is a still a good read if you are looking to learn more into Vodou. I cannot say much about the author Kenaz Filan as I have not read his work, although I haven't heard bad things from this author. Denise Alvarado is a an author you should stay away from if you are looking to read about Vodou or Voodoo, as she mixes traditions and puts them all into one pot. Although I will say this, Vodou is a religion that should not be learned primarily on articles or books, it is a community religion; although the majority of the Vodou religion consists of solitary practitioner, it is best to be affiliated with a Vodou house so that they may teach and guide you towards the right direction when it comes to serving Lwa. There are some things that cannot be based primarily on books and Vodou is one of them.

Chita Tann's "Hatian Vodou: An Introduction" is lovely and worth the read.
