Dragons are typically more defensive, some don't enjoy competeting against each other or other beings. Elves is something I can't help you with but this is a silly topic, I still don't understand it's true meaning.

The Alfar, or elves, are sometimes worked with and honored in Norse tradition- but generally not the kind of being you would want to go to for some kind of spiritual help. While they are considered to be another type of wight, or spirit, they are not worked with like the other types of wights. They tend to be very moody, very easily offended, and not always friendly. They're just as likely to laugh in your face and shoo you away as they are to actually help you in some manner. There are also two different kinds of elves, in Norse tradition, one being the dark alfar. I would definitely avoid them for the most part.
