Questions on meditation
By:
I've been trying to get good at meditating for just under a year now, and I've pretty much given up. Ever since I found this website and realized how important meditating would be for my magick learning, I've decided to give it another try.

I'm looking for a very, very simple way to meditate. I'm interested in chakra healing too but this is too difficult for me now.

I quite like the idea of working with a "white light" meditation, but haven't found one that's easy enough for a beginner yet.

One of the issues I have is reading the script and trying to put myself under at the same time.

Should I memorize the script, or is there a way to be less distracted by the text that's on my computer?

I have found this simple meditation exercise works well.

How- To.

  1. Make sure you have enough time to sit down and just relax. You may do this in the morning, or night.
  2. Sit down (You may lay, but I like to sit). You can sit in a chair, a bed, or on the floor.
  3. Close your eyes (you may also put on relaxing music). Slowly breathe in for the count of four, hold for four, then breathe out for four. Focus on your breathing. You should start feeling very relaxed.
  4. Imagine you breathing out negativity, inhaling positive energy.

Have you ever taken a nice walk throuh a forest? Along a beach? Your mind quiets down and empties and you only notice the sound of nature around you. The birds the crickets the wind? You feel at peace out there and you could spend all day outside? Have you listened to music and got so into it that a lot of time passed before you even knew what you were doing or realized it? That is true meditation. Teaching the mind to relax and give up total domanation on all of your senses. Reading from a script is distracting your mind. The idea is to let go and by letting go you grasp the bigger picture.

Thank you very much. I'll use one of my many relaxation CD's to try to meditate again.

When you listen just listen. Let go of your mind and control. Let the music take you where it wants you to go. If you fall asleep fall asleep. Try to keep your mind empty but if a thought does come let it flow by life a leaf on a river of light.

Here is one of the meditations I use.

Steps:

Find a position you feel comfortable to stay in for at least ten minutes. Relax and loosen up your body first, let go of pain and stress and relax your muscles.
Then, try to clear your mind. Do not think racing thoughts and focus on having a clear and calm mind. It may take a while to get there so keep working on it for as long as needed until you're mind isn't racing as much.

As you do this, regulate your breathing. Slow deep breaths for the count of three-five, however feels comfortable. Make sure you're always breathing evenly and not holding your breath.

You can do this with your eyes opened or closed. If your eyes are open do not focus them but rather stare or gaze at something like incense smoke or the flame of a candle.

Keep like this, focusing and clearing your thoughts and breathing for as long as you want. I usually mediate in the beginning of each ritual from 10 to 20 minutes before spellcasting or ritual work because it makes it easier and more effective.

Come out of the meditation slowly, by moving your toes and fingers and stepping back into reality, don't force yourself.

It takes a lot of time to get it down, believe me when I first started it was really hard for me to just calm my mind and focus.
It gets easier with practice so don't give up!
