excerpts from discussion at wiccatogether

remember this the jesus said you do not pray right-- they do what is called candle novenas the saints intercede to yahweh i found a crazy catholic spell book at the martin memorial library--- it was part candlemagic and catholicism, have you ever seen the psalms magic and used it with the appropriate colored candle-----like jesus said they have not been praying right---- seems the catholics don't normally teach the following-- but i was invited to learn it by father gralinski--

Psalms for Making Peace between Husband and Wife
Psalms 45 and 46 -- Whoever has a scolding wife, let him pronounce the 45th Psalm over pure olive oil, and anoint his body with it, when his wife, in the future will be more lovable and friendly. But if a man has innocently incurred the enmity of his wife, and desires a proper return of conjugal love and peace, let him pray the 46th Psalm over olive oil, and anoint his wife thoroughly with it, and, it is said, married love will again return.
(Psalm 45 refers to anointing with "the oil of gladness" and to the "rejoicing" that occurs when the "glorious" daughter of the King of Tyre is brought before the King. Psalm 46 contains the words, "God is in the midst of her...God shall help her...He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the Earth.")

Psalm to Make Your Home Lucky
Psalm 61 -- When you are about to take possession of a new dwelling, repeat this Psalm just before moving in, with a suitable prayer, trusting in the name of Schaddei, and you will experience blessing and good fortune. The letters comprising this name are taken from the words: Schimmu, verse 2, Ken, verse 9, and Jom, the last word of this Psalm. It should, however, be remarked, that both the last letters are selected according to the alphabetical order of Ajack Bechar.
(Psalm 61 contains the lines, "Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Thy tabernacle forever; I will trust in the covert of Thy wings." The reference to "the alphabetical order of Bechar" is obscure Kabbalistic in-fighting about variant rules of gematria which non-Kabbalists can safely ignore.)

Psalm for Safe Travel at Night
Psalm 121 -- Are you compelled to travel alone by night, pray this Psalm reverently seven times, and you will be safe from all accidents and evil occurrences.
(Psalm 121 opens with the line, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.")

Psalm for Severe Headache or Backache
Psalm 3 -- Whosoever is subject to severe headache and backache, let him pray this Psalm [...] over a small quantity of olive oil, [and] anoint the head or back while in prayer. This will afford immediate relief.
(Psalm 3 contains the line, "Thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter of mine head.")

Psalm for a Repentant Liar
Psalm 132 -- If you have sworn to perform anything punctually, and notwithstanding your oath you neglect to perform your obligation, and in this manner have perjured yourself, you should, in order to avoid a future crime of a similar kind, pray this Psalm daily with profound reverence.

I dont mix....I support my wife in her beliefs, drive her to church, sit patiently and do enjoy the beats of the music, but a I am no more christian than a dog is a cat.
My wife doesnot support my religion but that is because she had Christianity beat into so young a age that she believes it the only way. She calls the Goddess and God of Wicca "devils menions" and says they have no power. Yet I have received many blessings I asked for in ritual while she suffers various health issues and says it is because she is not following Jesus hard enough.
I dont get it they pray read and sleep Jesus and while their prayers go unanswered and things worsen, they simply say it is because they are not following Jesus hard enough.
What kind of life is left when they are already slaves to their beliefs to the point that tv offends them, people in shorts and tight clothes offends them. I mean my wife even sleeps fully clothed pajama pants and all, and ridicules me for sleeping comfortablly skyclade.
And now your saying some Wiccans try to mix into this twisted belief of Christianity...........CRAZY

"Live you must and let to live"
Your own rede tells you not to judge others.

"Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much"
This needs no introduction.

"Harm to none, do what thee will"
If they aren't harming anyone, why do you care?

With all do respect I believe that if you call yourself Wiccan that you live up to your rede. Do what feels right to you and leave others to do what feels right to them. If you are going to choose a religion, be true to its values. Otherwise perhaps you shouldn't be representing it. That's just my opinion.

A Christian witch or Vodun priestess is their belief. Using Christian and witch when describing oneself is disclaiming the belief that magick is wrong and viewing Jesus as a great magician! There is nothing wrong with that. Mythology of every culture is up for personal interpretation.

I agree. I am not saying you should not have the right to your thoughts and opinions. I would just say you agree with the ideas and philosophies of the Wiccan religion/ spirituality, but don't entirely represent it. Everything is up for your own interpretation. That's the wonderfult thing about just being spiritual! :)

I used to have the hardest time accepting Christians and their strict beliefs and cramming Jesus down your throat. I know what you mean, trust me. They go on about how we are followers of saitan and do tons of black magic. Blah blah blah! I was so frustrated that they couldn't accept me! But I realized that I was being hypocritical and was not accepting them for not accepting me. So I brought it upon myself to sit through church and just listen. Not only is church a wonderful place to just go and feed on the high vibrational energies, but (as hard as this may be to believe) it's a very loving environment. Take it for the good. Learn from it and interpret it in your own ways and realize the main message is the same as our Wiccan rede. Just a few of the technicalities are different.

I hope I made some sense. I am half asleep while writing this because it's 1:30 am where I am right now! I hope none of this is taken to offense. I just wanted to put my opinion out there and learn from others! :)
