Why do spells work and sometimes they don't work? There are many things that contribute to a spell or ritual work properly and not one thing alone. All of the following combined together is what will make a Spell, Hex or Curse work and work good.
* The proper Moon phase
* The proper Planetary Hour and Day
* The proper materials and supplies
* The mental condition of the Practitioner
* The will of the Universe
* The experience of the practitioner
* The Magical Energy built up by the Practitioner
* Your belief in the magic you are working
* The proper Spell
You can search for those criteria , but i would like to say something about the proper spell.
Let's face it... you must have a good spell. Some of the spells out there are pure crap and some are really good. Some spells may work better for you than others, so experiment and keep a journal of your workings so that you will know which ones work best for you and which ones don't. Also just because a spell doesn't work for you doesn't mean that it is no good... you may have not been the right state of mind or maybe you didn't have the proper materials. All the above things on this page come into play. So like I said... keep a journal and find the Spells that work for you!
Also please remember that spell work is not the first thing you should try with magick.
Here's a good analogy. What you're trying to do is the equivalent of trying to read Shakespeare when you have not yet learned the english alphabet. You're way ahead of yourself.
Start with the basics. Learn to see energy, learn to manipulate it. Learn to center, ground and shield yourself. Learn to visualize (properly). Only when you've been practicing these basics for a while will you be able to move on to COMPLICATED magick like spells.
There are no easy spells, there are no "beginner" spells. Magick is hard. No easy way to start that is at all interesting. The ABCs are boring...but you NEED them to learn to read. The basics are boring (to some, I don't find them so), but you NEED them to work any type of magick.
