Learn your basics before attempting a spell.
Some useful information on these can be found in Newbie Central, and in the General forums, whilst I could list them here, it wouldn't quite hone your ability to research.

If you want to study magick to achieve the goal of living a "Magical Life" and/or having control of all that you do in this life ; i suggest you begin with the basics. if you want to just achieve a personal goal etc... that is a deep desire of yours that is probable to natural physics i suggest you look in your self and believe what you need to occur and the behoove in a way that what you needed to occur already happened and/or will happen....

Simple spells. If you have ever blown out the candles on a cake, and made a wish; you have cast a spell. Ever pulled a wishbone? That is another spell. But, there are more serious spells, and these need study, and knowledge. Learn the basics.
