Genes and Magic

Alright well a few times in chat there has been talk of the Caduceus and the helix DNA structure. Well, I have thought about it like this. The Caduceus is often depicted as being carried by the Greek god Hermes, the messenger of the gods. Well considering DNA is filled to the brim with histories and a bit of research could lead you to cures and other such knowledge would it not be an acceptable interpretation that a divine or spiritual being passed this knowledge on to man in some form of another to be interpreted later on. It is now seen as a sign of medicine. Which isn't all too crazy either considering the fact that in our genetics is the cure to every disease we have encountered in some form or another. Also, it is intertwined by two snakes. Snakes in many religions are holders and givers of great knowledge. I'll cite a biblical example of when Satan took on the from of a snake and helped Eve achieve awareness of her body and its nakedness. Another sign that it points to a divine origin is that is depicted as being topped by a set of angelic wings. This often represents some form of divinity or another. I see in all this a startling proof of how knowledgeable entities of a higher vibrational existence were even when we were still without electricity.

Now onto the actual correlation between magic and genetics. Obviously, (or obvious to me at least) some entity or another passed on said information to the Greeks and they in turn without the ability to inspect DNA at the time took it as a symbol of information transference. Well this DNA is a symbol of informational transference but not from only being to being, but through time. So here is the connection. Many religions and practices call upon ancestry when performing magic. Well if DNA has been taking information forward in time could it not also be connecting us spiritually with all who came before us and therefore allowing us to call upon them?

I only saw the last sentence, but I would think it's so. Makes sense.

Great theory and a great connection of the Caduceus and the double Helix DNA structure.

This is great information and gives a lot to think about. In addition, I would point out that Hermes was also the Divine Physician, which is why the Caduceus was chosen by the medical profession. Of course, that does not invalidate your observations. There are also correspondences between the kabalistic Tree of Life and the Caduceus.

I would say that the Greeks probably based the design of the Caduceus on Egyptian designs. I know that the one I made wound up looking a bit more Egyptian than Greek. As far as calling upon our ancestors, I would think that we do every day. Through our entire life we work on the achievements they have made and progress beyond them. We are, by physical and spiritual evolution, in constat contact with our ancestors and we draw daily on their strength, their successes and their knowledge.

LVX,

Shawn.

Alright so a continuation on my thought process of not necessarily magic and genetics, but the meaning of the Caduceus. Now I want to look at it in another way because this image could be interpreted several different ways. Alright well in this time we are not comparing it to the genetic structure but to the path of humanity. I see the snakes of knowledge (I use this comparison for reasons above) as the ones surrounding our path as we meander down it. I think that the wings that 'top' the Caduceus are really the start point and the end point. I think it represents us leaving the divine spirit(s) (This can be reinterpreted to many religious standpoints)and then going along our path and that beginning being very aware of the divine and as we get older we enter a state of disbelief before we turn around and start becoming aware of it again. Our awareness of the divine is represented by how close to the wings and serpents mouth's we are. So you would find Buddha and Jesus at the mouth's and Al Capone (Al Capone was a gangster for any who do not know) at the tail. The length of the stick and your placement on it has nothing to do with your life span. It is a spiritual awareness.

I forget the title of the book specifically but there is a great book about DNA and the craft by Raven Grimassi. Look up the author and you will come across the book. This is always an amazing subject of discussion.
