Native American Religion

What are your guys' thoughts on practicing a Native American religion or participating in a tribes culture without having any Native American blood or tribal affiliation? Is it offensive? Are books and online resources sufficient education on the subject? What steps should be taken in order to be sure that someone abides by religious laws and standards?

As a Metis person, I see nothing wrong with someone practicing my Native American Traditions as long as it is 1) done with respect 2) the person's done their research and 3) They do their best to honor the practice(s) of the people they are studying.

Some people may disagree strongly about this - it should be an interesting topic :)

People will probably look down on you for this but your ethnicity doors not define your religion.Just make sure that you do your research your chosen practice thoroughly and know the meaning behind the things that you do instead of appropriating parts of the practice (e.g. hanging up random dram catchers without knowing their original intention).
