I have a question that has been bugging me. Can you be wiccan AND Christian or must you choose one.

Here is a thread that debates about that extensively.http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=392038

The are both opposing religions. That does not mean there aren't Christian Wiccans, but the two religions have very different ideas and don't particularly mesh well at all.

Some Christians say that only members of their specific denomination are really Christians. Fudamental Baptists are the most common holders of this view today. They call Catholics, Mormons, and any other a tool of Satan (As someone who works with demons, I find this funny). On the other hand, Wicca has very few grand unifying doctrines which all Wiccans must believe or they will go to Hell (Most Wiccans don't believe in Hell). Someone will always say that faith has to be a certain way, but you should decide for yourself what path you wish to tread.

Trying not to stir the pot: yes, but not mixing the two. Belong to a church and a coven, but do not mix what's being preached in the Bible with what's being talked about in the circle. Do not try, they are fundamentally different. Other than that, it depends largely on the branch and individual congregation of both faiths.

For example, someone could be initiated in Santeria and Vodou, or belong to a Vodou house and be initiated in Santeria, or be initiated in Vodou but run the Kemetic Orthodoxy. Belonging to both faiths, finding something wonderful in both faiths for your spiritual growth, both are being respected, and nothing is being mixed and matched.

Well I am Wiccan and I see all Deities are one which does include the Christian God. I talk and communicate with various forms of the Lord and Lady including Jesus, Nyx, Mother Mary and Aphrodite. It all depends how you view both faiths. I didn't like the preaching on Hell so I choose to see Jesus' death as teaching us about reincarnation and as their own personal truth. Each religion has their witches and Christianity is no different. If you want more information on this I would suggest contacting the witchcraft museum in England as they will confirm that people have practised this way for many years. Think seriously about if you are ready to undertake this path, as from experience I can tell you it takes allot of research and trial and error. It can be done, and if you want any more information feel free to message me or ask :)
Blessed Be.

In my opinion, and based on 30 years as a practicing Wiccan, the religons of Wicca and Christianity are incompatible. The beliefs and practices are totally at odds. Trying to mash the two religions together might make some sort of spiritual path, but it is then neither Christianity nor Wicca.

Now, that being said...there is no reason one cannot be both witch and Christian as witchcraft is just that, a craft. Many witches continue to follow the beliefs and practices of Christianity and still practice magic and spellwork. But witchcraft and Wicca are two very different things as well.

As I said, witchcraft is a craft...Wicca is a religion,.

Wicca and Christianity do not work well together, no. Christopaganism is a bit different. You can set up a sort of hierarchy, as long as you honor God as the highest part of it. This is why Hellenic deities are not a good choice for Christopagans, as they also wish to be honored as the highest part of your hierarchy. If you want, I can give you more info.

I fail to see the point of this argument! It is very simple!
A true Christian believes that Jesus was the son of God. A true Wiccan does not! It's like claiming to be a Christian Muslim.

While I respect your all your opinions, and I hope you give the same curtesy to me. What is the point of arguing? I resonate with the title of Wiccan. That is who I am. Just because I see Jesus as being another face of the Divine does not make me any less of a Wiccan. Everyone will argue about this, but it's how you feel and connect with the Lord and Lady that makes a difference. In the end no one can tell me I'm wrong because its how I practise. It may not work for others just like your paths will not work for everyone, but yes it's possible and yes it works. I am the living proof of that.
