I don't understand why, for any reason, people would want to summon incubi and succubi, though I'm pretty sure that's impossible. They don't give you real love, they just make you their slaves and take your life force. I mean, I don't enjoy being single either, but I wouldn't go to that extreme.
I don't think many people comprehend what a incubi/succubi is when they want to summon one. The general consensus is they are sexual spirits that pleasure you in your sleep, which isn't what most are seeking anyway and then there's the more realistic concept that they are simply demons who will wreak havoc as they are apt to do. I am aware some descriptions talk about them draining your life force via physical pleasure, but either way it's not a relationship people are seeking but rather their own gratification. Thankfully most who seek to summon such beings are incapable of doing so.
I see what you mean and yes thankfully they are unsuccessful. I just noticed some of the dream spells would say "succubus girlfriend" and "incubus boyfriend". That's mostly what sparked this question.
During the rise of Christianity it became a "scandal" for an un-married girl to become pregnant. If she couldn't name the father, or didn't want to! She would claim that she was visited by an incubus. A young boy with semen stains on the bed sheet would claim, "It wasn't me! It was a succubus!". And so the myth grows, as myths do. And it became a "spirit" or a "demon". But they are beliefs; nothing more!
Well there are logical explanations to these demons, hearsay as Brysing said being a major factor in a lot of mythology. Many demons like succubis/inccubis could be explained with sleeping problems [tightness in the chest, seeing ghostly shadows floating around the room, and being unable to move are symptoms of sleep paralysis]
Anyway, for argument let's say they're real, the reason so many want to summon them is because most are naive teens who think 'something I can have mind blowing sex with? Sign me up!' When they are dangerous, being known to drain a victims energy until they die, but most who summon succubi/inccubi don't research or weight the good and bad, like most things they want results now, and meeting someone, going out on dates, getting to know them and so on is hard, saying some words and something appears to fulfill your needs is easy.
If these demons are real and someone is foolish enough to call on them, then they will learn their lesson the hard way that the easy route isn't the best choice. If anyone does wish to summon one, study and know what you're doing, that's all you can hope for really.
