What kind of rituals do you know for the new year?

I'm gonna buy the horseshoe and hang it above the door, as the year of the horse is coming.

well i celebrate new years at Samhain, so actual new years doesn't matter to me. you could try a ceremony at midnight where you make a wish, or cast a spell for something in the coming year. [say you want a raise, or good grades]

personally, i don't do resolutions, i decided when i was a kid they were stupid since most people can't go through with them. i keep two jars, one is full of things i want to improve on [could be read a book, meditate, work on art, or loose 5 pounds as some examples] once i complete one, i pull another slip of paper with a new goal. the second jar i start on January 1, whenever i do something i feel is noteworthy [say i lost 5 pounds, finished a picture, or didn't complain about something] i write it down and place it in the jar. on December 31 i empty the jar and look back at all the things i accomplished. don't know if that's for everyone though.

Around this time of year, I tend to do a blot dedicated to the disir and female wights from the Northern tradition. I also set goals between myself and specific deities. For instance, this last year I dedicated 5-6 months straight of daily devotion to Loki. This next year I will do the same for another deity I am interested in working with.
