I don't feel connected

Is it bad to not feel connected to tarot cards? I feel as if I have an obligation to do so since they have helped me.

I have a tarot deck and an oracle deck.

I feel extremely detached to the oracle deck, and sometimes want to dispose of it, but then I feel all sad if I do. After all, I did buy it for a reason.

What do you guys do when you feel like this?

I think you should listen to your heart. I know that for me personally, I had a deck that I didn't really connect with, and when a friend of mine held it she had a connection with it. So I gave them to her. Perhaps your cards are telling you that it's time to pass them on to someone else.

That's depressing. But I suppose it's true. Now...if I could only find a person who wasn't afraid of such things, haha.

In the past I have also given decks away if I have not felt a connection develop, or if I did not like the energy of the cards. I had a beautiful Thoth deck about 15 years ago that I gave away, because as that time I found the artwork too disorienting. These days however I wish I had saved that deck. So what I am saying is maybe it isnt the right time to work with the deck. Also, it might take a time for the cards to absorb your energy. I handle mine a lot before I start reading with them if I get a new deck. Really I have 2 decks that I would say are my 'working decks'. I kind of collect others wherein I like the artwork/symbolism. There has to be classic occult symbolism or they just don't tend to work as well for me. I have a couple of oracle decks but I tend to use these as complementary to a tarot reading whereby the querant is drawn to that deck or it seems right to use for that particular situation.

Blessings

Take a break from the cards. They may need a cleansing, especially if others have touched them. Do a cleanse on them, then put your energy back in them, see what happens, can't hurt.

I had a deck that took me in excess of 10 years to grow into. they were clearly meant for me, I just wasn't ready for them. We have a great time together now. I've done at least ten readings with them this week. I would suggest you examine the reason for purchasing the cards. If they chose you give yourself time to grow into them or ask them how they prefer to be used. Once an understanding is attained I'll bet you become fast friends.
