Some people think that becuase the moon affects the oceans that it will affect humans and animals becuase we are 75% water. So I think their could be substantial evidence that a lunar eclipse does have some sort of power.
Well, why not lay down some practical facts about the moon. It has a tidal pull on water, yes. Scientifically, the amount of influence (if any) that it has on human beings due to tidal pull is too small to measure or nonexistent (the light of a bright or full moon was taken to be the dominant influence as opposed to tidal pull, but if you live in a city present-day this tends to be obsolete as an assumption). However, in practice, the moon does affect things quite a bit. Farmer's Almanacs have advice based on the phases, and on which 'moon' is best for planting and harvest, etc. Fishermen and hunters tend to catch more fish/game during the three days before or after a full moon. EMT's and law enforcement are statistically much busier around and during the time of full moon (people used to be able to claim 'lunacy' for a crime and get a reduced sentence).
I don't know what the mystical properties of a lunar eclipse are, but since magick is natural, and since the change in the phases of the moon does affect many things even though it is only visibly a change in the light reflected, I would suggest looking up what a farmer's almanac-esque book or article has to say about lunar eclipse occurrences, and compare it to another source. That is of course if no one hops into this article and can give an answer.
Many will tell you that a lunar eclipse is a positive however I personally think it depends on when the lunar eclipse takes place.
The energy in the air during a lunar eclipse plays a large roll as well. Take the lunar eclipse on 12/21/10. I personally did not see this as a positive occurrence because the date was also the winter solstice. This is a sun sabbath and a lunar eclipse is when the moon is in the earths shadow. The sunlight that is usually on the moon causing a reflection and making moon light is gone. As I watched the eclipse the energy in the air was not the best to me but I must say it was a sight to see and I am glad I watched it. Personally, I did not do any magic while the eclipse was occurring.
An eclipse has power but the type of power depends on a lot of factors. My best advice is to use your instincts when trying to determine if you want to utilize it.
