Whars the point of som

I thought we were all here to learn Magick and witchcraft but all I have come across are sarcastic mods and fluffs who by the aren't being taught a thing yet you call them fluffs.maybe if you all stop sitting and calling fluffs and maybe teach them something they would learn. I understand the whole against the law thing but there is more than under age members so why not teach the older members or atleast make more informative post instead of reply to people who want to be vampires or lord knows what else.

I know this is your opinion, but since there is nothing on your profile, I can't really say much on that. How long of have you been on SoM? Maybe you should stick around and actually consider learning and researching yourself, and then maybe joining a coven before pointing fingers at people. Yes this site has a lot of fluff, but people here have learnt to deal with it. Maybe you should learn to deal with it too, then you won't have to make a fuss will you?

You cannot change the way that people post by complaining about it. People will do as they please. The best way to improve this site and to help others is through setting an example of how you believe others should respond to questions on here. It's a bit hard to take the high ground about being helpful to others when you have made no posts or responses yourself. So why not help out here by being part of the solution instead of just saying "someone" needs to do "something".

The purpose of SoM as stated in the lower right hand corner or the page is entertainment. Everyone has their own reasons for being here. For some its to learn, for some its to communicate with other people in the craft.

Many of the people who have been in their craft for a long time, or those who have become serious in their practice gravitate to covens where they can post, and communicate with a more controlled group they feel they can trust. Another factor one might want to contemplate is how people who have been in practice a long time, and how those who are serious about their own practice learn. Many of us have been self taught, it's our research and our experience in practice that have taught us. I will admit I am one of those who feels a alight pang of anger when someone comes on, having read nothing, looked for nothing, practiced nothing, and demand to know how it works. They don't hold themselves accountable for their education and that's what drives many to annoyance and or silence. A fair amount of people alao feel that many of their practices are a private matter which truely it is.

What I am trying to say I it's up to you to utalize the site how you see fit as it is with everyone. There are many brilliant informational posts in the public forum, should you choose to loom for them and read them. Covens have a wonderful support system, informative posts, even lessons, should you choose to join one. Your learning and education rests in your hands, as it does with every individual.

Last time I checked there were plenty of good post on the site so I don't get what you are saying. Fluffs as you say are not always fluff from hot being taught, most of the time everyone tries their best to hell and most fluffs are that way because they have watched something on TV or maybe a book and think that it is possible for some of the features in realty and are too stubborn to listen.

As petrarca has said before the way the site is designed is the way it will remain, he is the only one to change if he wishes to, until then it will operate as is

Gandhi was once quoted as saying 'Be the change that you wish to see in the world.' i feel this situation could benefit from that sentiment.

no this site isn't perfect, and yes there is a lot of fluff, but complaining won't fix the issue. you want this to be a site for real magick [which it is, most new members just believe what they saw in popular culture] then go out and teach. talk in the forums, join a coven, offer one on one teaching [not the wisest move to teach magick online but still an option] or use the chat as a weekly meeting for sessions, or even circles. complaining is the easy answer. yes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but do you know how many people have said 'there's a lot of fluff'? it's not going to change. there's a bunch of reasons why the fantasy spells will remain, the biggest is they bring traffic to the site, ad revenue then keeps it free for all.

regarding sarcastic mods, who are you talking about exactly? most mods online today are quite nice. [its when you prove yourself stubborn some may respond with a hard handed reply] i do welcome you and hope you use this opportunity to grow the community. i've been a member for years [i found the site around 2004-2005 and lurked for a year or two before posting] i've seen some highs and lows, and right now it's running really well. you get your 'i'm a mermaid/elf/werebunny' people, but it's nowhere near as bad. and as for the mods, while there are some i miss i know of a few who threatened to gag me for not conforming and i'm over the moon they're gone, so the occasional tough love response is nothing in my book.
