This all depends on how long you have been learning and what spell you have chosen.

WIth very little knowledge and fake spells, no matter how many you try they still won't work.

With most spells it is simply faith in the spell that will help it to work, patience and self confidence is always good too. DIfferent people can tell when a spell, or intent has been cast well, because they have a "tell", for me I feel slightly drained, others may feel tingly..it is all about findind what makes you know you have cast a spell to the best of your ability and leave the rest up to the universe.

Well, if you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

We all end up reading and suggesting Modern Magick
It's a life changing Book, also I'm far from a newbie at this point but I'm always looking for advice and ways to grow
I took Larks advice, last time she mentioned it and went and ordered the Veils Edge, man!what a cool, interesting way to see things
Excellent choice.Also take the advice
There is no way to get around it,study is the Key
I'm almost 40 and I'm still constantly getting new books
Practicing new things etc, lark is 30 years older then me I'm sure it's the same with her,The occult is"secret Knowledge"Its a lot of magick and ritual but Mostly study,it has to become part of one's life, many flop out after a short time, people who stick to it usually stay for life.

Intention and faith is also key for when a spell works. And depending on the spell's nature/purpose, you have to do specific things in order to increase its chances of working or giving the desired effect. Do not falter and do not question or be obsessed wether or not something will work, because then your uncertainty will be translated into energy and will weaken the spell. Since you have to put forth your own energy into it, and thus power, it will be weakened or fizzle out and not work at all. Spells can give you slight hints or powerful ones, but you have to develop your metaphysical senses and perhaps even ublock some chakras, and notice any changes within your emotions or body. Even if they are negative, any change from what you normally feel is a sign that something has happened and pursue it with an open mind and open heart, and accept what ever comes.

If a spell stretches incredibility, it isn't real.

You cannot throw fire, physically fly, change your shape, etc.

This is because magic has more to do with altering chances, fate, perception, the inner world and entering the spirit world.

Secondly, how do you know a spell works?

It's simple, by getting results.

All sorcery relies upon a number of pillars, essential parts. The most commonly known are Will, Intent, and Action. This last one is important.

If you do a job spell, but aren't turning in applications and calling, you will not have results.

So if you send in applications, and you get the job, the spell has worked? Or would you have got the job without the spell?

That's a good question Brysing, but tha answer is a matter of belief. Many people believe that spells increase your chances of something happening, so if the odds were already in your favor, you probbly would have gotten the job anyway, but if it was somehing like a 50/50 chance, a spell would push the chances into your favor.
