Welcome to SoM,

Well first off I would read more on magic(k) (not Harry Potter or those kind of books), you can ask around a lot of these members have read books about magic(k) also doing research online may help you understand the art. As for spell casting, I would hold off until you learn the basics. Remember magic(k) requires patients. Remember the spells will not just happen, maybe if it is a little spell, it will happen a little sooner, no one can be definit on how long it will take, it could take a intire moon cycle or two. Which also brings me to the conclusion, you should also read about the cycles of the moon, which you could find on the "Articles" page.

The first thing to understand is that spellwork is not as simple as finding some spells on the internet, lighting a few candles, chanting some words and **POOF** magic happens. Until you understand how and why magic works and have mastered the basics it is unlikely that any spell you try to cast is going to be effective. I would recommend starting with some good books on the subject. I suggest the following:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Kraig

As mentioned above the first step is learning how magick works and learning what one calls "the basics" , which as you might expect are techniques/methods that make up the basics of magick. Learning this will help you in learning how magick works, a good example being magick is highly energy in nature and the basics teach you how to utilize this energy properly in regards to spell casting, and a basic such as meditation is a useful tool simply for relaxation outside of magick. The link contains very detailed information related to the basics:
