The problem with orders.

Hello,

It has often come to my mind during reflection, why so many esoteric orders loose it.

A esoteric order, is about serving it's pupils and teaching them and passing down essential knowledge, much like a family.

Another pity is when a great group like the golden dawn, is destroyed by feud and argument.

Look at the golden dawn, the original was probably the best order of it's time and now it has been disgraced. The Ciceros have done a great job at restoring the golden dawn, so has many other GD imperators the thing is the politics, you would swear they ran a goverment.

David griffin (who by the way is a great magician and a brilliant imperator) is quite the picker, he fought with various GD orders and many leading to court.

Robert Zink (who is also a good magician) introduced a blaspheoumeus scheme to make money called "Astral Initaition" I am annoyed that they did this

A curious thing I saw is MOAA (the magical order of aurora Aurea) nick Farrell it's founder, is I believe an adepts exemptus he created MOAA as a modern approach to GD style Magick.

Anyway, I don't believe the Golden Dawn is the best option if you are looking for a order.

(I would recommend The Ciceros they are brilliant and lovely people, who effectively restored a lot of the golden dawn with the help of Dr. Israel

Or OTO seems interesting also the AA does

Its like that in many religons. They fight break up and create new orders. I don't mind this one bit. I see the orders as moms who produce offspring orders for ever widening the knowladge of magick.

I wouldn't say that orders "lose it". Maybe some meditation on the tarot trump The Tower may explain it.

Religions are only as good as those that have control over them. Many are destroyed by power and greed, this is inevitable. Many follow religions blindly excepting all and questioning nothing so the 'herd mentality' is often a contributing factor in their failings. Perhaps a more selective approach is required?

I agree about religion. Magical orders, however, aren't religion. In fact, they all encourage searching other beliefs and practices, although most do have a strict process of learning the basics first.

Magical orders ( religious or otherwise!) are hierarchy/ power / ideology based structures that face the same threats of human fallacy, greed and power lust as religions and political organisations.

Ah. Now I see the point you were making. Yes, they are. That is why people need to focus on themselves rather than others. In running a lodge, I do have a great deal of responsibility in the training of others. That means that I have to work 3 times as hard on myself first, and continually. The problem occurs when people forget that they themselves are still a work in progress.

I apologize as my words were not worded well.

"Lose it" is quite a bad phrase and I dearly apologize.
