Harry Potter esque

I've been reading Harry Potter lately and found myself very interested in it. I think the entire world of Harry Potter is interesting, specifically the magic and enthralling nature of it.

That is why I have joined this forum. I hope to become connected with things in the magic world similar to Harry Potter. Including conjuration, wand magic, etc etc.

I've had some experience with magic in the past, but grew up in the Christian church. Word of mouth was that magic was and is to be disregarded as unnatural/holy. I may be misinterpreting it; just a little background information on me.

What should I look into in order to gain a better perspective into the Harry Potter "realm/world"?

this is completly different than the world of harry potter.

Goblins and flying brooms do not exist!

this is a serious religion,

i suggest you read up on different types of witchcraft and decide which one is best for you only you can decide that.

if you are a beginer i suggest you to study about crystals

I was unaware that this was a religion. I apologize, I have a feeling my interest in Harry Potter will be capped off after I finish reading the books now anyways.

Thank you for your help.

Although she is right that goblins and flying brooms do not exist. The craft itself is not the religion. the craft is the practice. A religion can use magick, but that doesn't make magick a religion.

If you are looking for a religion that is highly in to using magick, try wicca. But what your religion is really doesn't matter, there are christian witches.

I wonder how often the young need to be told? Shall we try again.
Listen carefully children.
Harry Potter, Frankenstein, Dracula, and all the books and movies about such things, are fiction! Have you got it? They are fiction, from somebody's imagination.
Very entertaining, of course, but totally untrue.
Next thing we know, Superman and Spiderman will turn out to be real people.

gonna try to be nice [sorry if any of this upsets you]

while Harry Potter is a good book, it's a work of fantasy to enchant and stir the imagination, real magic is nothing like it at all. it sucks, because it would be cool to be able to do a lot of the same things as Harry Potter, but it isn't real.

magic is energy found in nature, while magic can bring us luck, wealth, even love, it cannot make us transform into someone/something else, we cannot fly, we cannot shoot beams of lighting out of our wands. as well, there isn't a magical school for witches and wizards where we can learn how to do these things.

magic isn't really a religion, but it is a part of many religions, you don't have to follow a religious path to cast spells. magic is used as a way to help us through lifes tough times. if you want to learn about magic, start by meditating, feel everything around you, try opening your chakras, take walks outside and try to feel one with everything. magic is found everywhere inside everything.

we cannot fight giant snakes and ride gryphons, but as you continue on this path, you will learn many things and might even learn to enjoy it more than you first thought. if you're really interested in magic, try picking up some real books on the subject, Earth Power by Scott Cunningham might be helpful, it'll show you different types of spells, a brief history, and a couple simple ones. it doesn't focus on a religious path, just magic, so if you are wanting to remain Christian but practice magic [which there's nothing wrong with you doing so, speak with someone in Christian Wiccans Coven] try to find a copy of the book. check on google books first, i think it's uploaded there. good luck to you.

You can be a Christian witch, but you cannot be a Christian Wiccan.
They are two entirely different religions.

There is actually a Castle Dracula...and the occult is associated with many paranormal things from my understanding.

I guess I should ultimately look to my imagination in order to become more acquainted with the magical world. I just thought it would be fun to be whisked away to a real life Hogwarts. Excuse me if I'm stepping on anyone's toes.

Conjuration does exist from what I've seen as well, I believe magic wands are used somewhat constructively.

Of course there is a castle dracula! The town of Whitby in Yorkshire depends on the tourist trade generated by the interest in the novel Dracula. As does Transylvania. Nevertheless, it is entirely fiction.
