Wondering..
By:
Hey everyone, I was just wondering..

See, I'm like... the first one of my family that find an interest in magic. And I've been thinking, can I really learn
or would it be a dead end for me since nobody in my family never even thought about magic? I don't know it seems some peoples has ancestors who practiced witchcraft so I guess it must be in the blood or something.

Anyway, I know absolutely nothing I don't know where to start, I just have a huge interest right now, you know? :) I thought about starting with books, any suggestions?

My thanks to you, brothers and sisters.

Blessed be.

It is not a bloodline type of thing. Everyone has the potential to do magic. As for beginning, I would start with research. Books, the internet, and talking to others who practice magic can be very beneficial.

Magic and the knowledge of the craft do not run in family blood .You can have a talent ,yet you still need to learn how to use it and gain knowledge .
Everyone can learn anything they put thier mind into .For some people this may take shorter time simply ,because they naturally seem to understand more and for others may take more time and effort , but eventually they will get there as long they do not give up .
Having a family involved in this makes it more easy for you ,because they teach you practical personal tricks or ways they had to learn in the hard way through trial and error .
If you lack a family involved ,friend or even tutor you need to embark on this journey on your own .
Working with your ancestors who were spiritual also take some talant and time to learn . It is useful ,but then again you can work with your ancestors anyway being spiritual or not .
It is good to see that you have great passion and it can be tricky to not loose it ,because as every learning process patience ,trying and working hard is needed in order to susscced .The craft rarely brings instant gratification .

I think you can look around for Scott Cunningham and Christopher Penzack ,Raymond Buckland books as start .Try to read general infromation forum which we have on this site .
Read and practice basics as much you can if you have a certain question ,which can be answered with few sentences you can ask in chat or mail experienced practicioners here .

as artindark said,Having a family involved in this makes it more "easy" for you ,because they teach you, but if your the first one in your family and your REALLY interested in magick, you can study about it on your own! :) just keep it up,i'm sure you can do it and become an adept in magick.and you can also find a teacher/mentor in SoM...and ask for help from experienced people, and you should start with magick basics:

The basics of magick are hallowing (circle casting), grounding energy, centering yourself, energy manipulation, correspondences, meditation, and much more. If you click the articles tab on this site you will find a great majority of the basics laid out in article format. I also suggest True Magick by Amber K. It is a great book to start with. Remember if you are really interested in magick, then you will put forth the effort to study it. Read articles, read books, and ask questions. Make sure you also keep an open mind. Good luck and be blessed. ++The basics of magick are hallowing (circle casting), grounding energy, centering yourself, energy manipulation, correspondences, meditation, and much more.
