People my age call me a devil worshipper and tell me I'm going to hell. But that doesn't really phase me anymore.

Yes your right. I remember when it was taboo and they use to call us the devil worshipers that we where on drugs that included the flower childs, this is before most provably before you where born.

I love it now because we have the freedom to express ourself, can u imagine this site back in the 70's.

I don't get people telling me it's the sign of the devil. But when people do say some thing about my wearing a pentagram amulet they tend to ask me, "What does that mean?" To which I give them the rundown on the implications of a pentagram through multiple aspects such as different religious perspectives, scientific implications, and the building structures. From there it goes to "What does it mean to you." To which I reply that it means whatever I feel it means. Which I don't have any specific set meaning to it it means whatever I feel it means at any given time.

I simply point out to them that the pentacle is a very ancient symbol and that in early Christianity it was thought to represent the Five Wounds of Christ at the crucifixion.

I then explain that to me it represents the Elements that make up all of the cosmos, namely Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit...all held within the circle of the sacred Creation.

That usually defuses the situation...especially when they are mulling over the history of the symbol that they'd never heard before.

Very few actually say that to me. Most I just catch staring at my pentacle and they either continue speaking to me or begin avoiding me! I've been asked if I worship the devil when I tell them I'm pagan, and I just correct them and say, "No, I honor Nature, I don't believe in 'the Devil' at all." If they persist, I explain that my beliefs are primarily of the old Cherokee faith, and then they usually back off after that. Although no one has ever asked why I wear a pentacle since it is not apart of Cherokee belief. Haha! Well I did say "primarily" not "entirely". =P
