Sleep walking?

Has anyone started sleep walking after decades of never doing it. I only ask because I woke up at 4 am with my window wide open as well as my bed room door. No new medications and I remember closing the window because of cold temperatures and closing my door to lessen the sound of my children since they talk and make noises in there sleep.

No ebbie jebbies for lack of a better word, went right back to sleep after closing both the window and the door. Just trying to rule out natural causes before moving forward. I have always been a light sleeper and have absolutely no history of sleep walking or activity.

So first I want people who have sudden onset sleep walking or activity after at least a decade to identify. Thanks.

My sister used to sleep walk all the time. She would go all the way out to the barn to look for mom and then she would come back and go to sleep. But she stopped doing that.

Different things can trigger sleepwalking. My sister used to do it when she was about 8, and when she turned 15, one of our neighbors scared her (he didn't do anything, he just scared her) and she tried to jump out her window screaming "You'll never get me!" But they moved away and now shes fine :D

So maybe something new in your life could be triggering it.

Dark Sun is correct. New added stresses in your life could cause sleepwalking.
Most people have a sleeping disorder that causes it, but anxiety can cause such inbalances to occur temporarily in those who have never experienced it.

The best thing to do is put bells, an alarm, etc on your window and door. I bought this little device where one side attaches to the door and the other to the door frame. When you turn it on, if the two pieces are moved apart (by opening the door) a high pitch beeping occurs.

If you are sleepwalking, the noise will wake you or alert others in the house. Some sleepwalkers have a tricky unconscious self. You may need to set up a noise on the outside of the door and window to prevent your sleepy self from removing it.

Be warned, some sleepwalkers will put themselves in danger. My husband sleepwalks occasionally, and I've stopped him from walking out the front door in the winter time, with no shoes or coat on.
