How To make A Voodoo-Doll

Items needed:

Two pieces of white/black silk around 30cm-30cm

A needle and thread

Herbs of your choice (optional)

Cling film (optional)

STEP 1:

Gather a lot of white silk,or if you're designing the doll specifically for bad intentions, black may work better, and begin to mark out where you are going to cut out a human like figure about 15 cm tall. Mark out the legs and arms, head etc.. ( have 2 pieces of silk, one on top of the other so when you cut it out it will match up to the second figure.



STEP 2:

Begin to sew the poppet with thread the same colour as the doll, make the stitches in the poppet really small and with a 2-3mm gap between each stitch maximum. Start sewing from one side of the waist all the way round to the other side of the waist if you are stuffing it with herbs, this will make it easier and the herbs will not fall out whilst you are stitching the rest.

STEP 3:

Stuff the bottom half of the poppet with either cllingfilm or a herb of your choice, make sure you stuff it well. Make sure to use herbs suited to your intentions.

STEP 4:

Once you have stuffed the bottom half fully, you can carry on sewing, you have just stuffed the bottom part now so you do not have trouble stuffing it right down later. Sew up to the head. You can now stuff the rest of the poppet with more herbs if you wish (less mess).

Step 5:

You may want to decorate your poppet, with symbols and runes. Maybe you just want to make it look more life like. It's your choice!

good start. what's your resource? and can you detail the "optional" herbs a bit more?

I get my information from either older generations of my family(maybe snook a look in a BoS once or twice) or my teachers, all is my own work however. From what I got my head around,you want me to do a post on herbs you could use?

On request, here is a small list of herbs and their properties you could use for this:

Bay leaf - Protection,healing, purification, strengh, visions.

Basil - Love, protection, wealth, forgiveness.

Belladonna - Illness, death, curses, sex.

Cedar- Healing, purification, protection, wealth,love.

Celery- Sleep, lust, psychic powers.

Lavender- Peace, purification, protection, sleep.

Oats- Wealth.

Sunflower- Physical health, fertility, desires.

Why would you want to make a voodoo-doll? Isn't it messing with someones will?

It can be considered messing with someones will. Usually this is seen as "negative", however poppets can also be used for healing, protection and various other types of spells you would cast. For some reason, people seem to be accepting of those things (even though they are usually done without permission and thus messing with free will) and frown upon anything else. I consider them to be the same thing personally.

It's just a visual and physical representation of someone. You can make one for yourself as well.

I don't think voodoo dolls mess with people's free will. They are generally meant for 'good' purposes, with the consent of the target. Often, as Rashnu said, the target is the maker.

Voodoo dolls simply offer a small, workable representation of a person so that it can be used as a tool.

At least, this is my view.

Thats very cool, i think voo doo is a very interesting subject. I have never done it before myself yet. I may just have to read more about it.

I'd be amused if a celebrity have voodoo on them and there on live TV and started messing with it..
