Norse ancestry?

Does anyone know if I can also connect with my ancestors ( who are definitely northern-european ) and if that's an effective way to also learn about Norse paganism? Or are they two entirely different things in general? Just wondering if these things have a link or not, since my ancestors have worshipped in a similar way and I'm also very drawn to these things and this type of paganism, how subtle it may be.

Norse refers to all of Scandinavia and depending on where in Scandinavia you are pulling from, you'll get a different style of Heathenry. My Scandinavian ancestors are Norwegian and Danish, however, I pull from Icelandic sources. Many Heathens tend to pull from all of Scandinavia and no matter where you pull from, honoring the ancestors is usually a big deal.

Whatever you learn from your ancestors will be treated as unverified personal gnosis, and while that is important, you'll want to learn through the historical sources anyway.
