I have a question about red brick
dust: Can red brick dust come
from specific red bricks or it
can be any type of red brick?
I'm the type person who loves
doing research on anything in
all pagan,find certain things that
i can put & use and just in case
stuff hit the boxfan in my
witch hazel arsenal. I have been
into the craft & all things pagan
since I was old enough to read
about it and research it.

What has red brick dust to do with Pagan beliefs? Or magic? Originally, bricks were made from clay and dried in the sun; Adobe.
Only when the clay was fired in a kiln did we get red bricks. And there are other types; blue bricks, fireproof bricks (Silica); yellow bricks, brown bricks, white bricks.Nothing really magical about them; except the "changing" of the clay".

So, the idea behind the magical properties of red brick dust, is the same as the iron fences around older graveyards, iron. Iron which is used to dissipate and keep out negative energies. Now, the original clay recipe wouldn't have done it, but the red in modern bricks is iron. It is a potent warding and protective curio utilized by many in the American South. This is a major practice in Hoodoo.

Red Brick dust, from what i have learned, can be from any brick. As long as it is red. However, Red Brick Dust is not just dust from red bricks. it is combined with herbs and other powders that give it it's protective ability. If you have any question I can send you my recipe.

I apologise. I didn't know brick dust was used in Hoodoo?voodoo. It certainly has nothing to do with witchcraft.

Memshearts, even during the time when iron was first discovered, railings were not put around graves. That only began to be a practise in the 18th century. The railings were not to keep out "spirits", but to keep out grave robbers from important graves! At that time, the railings were quite high, with a locked gate!
By the way, all modern bricks have iron; no matter what the colour. The most iron is in blue bricks; they are waterproof. But they are extremely hard. You wouldn't get dust from them!

Brick dust can be made from any type of red brick, however, "stronger" brick dust can be made by crushing bricks from old mausoleums, courthouses, graves, or any other place of power. Now I'm not saying go steal bricks, haha. Also, before you lay brick dust around the home, do a cleansing in your home. The brick dust keeps things out, but it also keeps things in.
