Sharing Beliefs/Experienc

Okay, so.... I'm Wiccan and my boyfriend is agnostic and isn't sure if things like God. He knows I'm Wiccan and respects my beliefs. I've done a protection spell for him and he thinks it's cute; he also thinks it's cute when I bless things. I feel like I can talk to him about anything, but I still have trouble and am nervous sharing my religion with him. Sometimes it's understandable--like the time I tried telling him about images I saw during meditation once and he told me I had just fallen asleep and was dreaming, even though I know that didn't happen. But I still want to share things with him and would like some tips and pointers in how to do this. We've talked about it a couple times before, but we normally don't talk about that kind of stuff and I'm always the one to bring it up and I get real nervous with it sometimes. And I hate having people around to hear us when we do talk about this kind of stuff. I would just like some advice on how I can start sharing things with him without getting so nervous or at least getting over the nerves???

Honestly, knowing from what posts of yours I've read here, you need to have a better understanding of things in order to be able to explain them to him.

For instance, if anyone told me that the images I saw during meditation was dreams, I would explain the difference between brain waves and how I had fallen into a trance state which is in fact very much like wakeful dreaming. Then I would continue into the meaning and significance of dreams in themselves and how they can not only hold potentially useful information about one's own mind and emotions, but equally be an open outlet for intuition, travel, and spirit communication due to it's loosened hold on the physical body and senses.

Did you explain this to him? I'm sure you did not. I'm sure he does think you are "cute" and if someone said my practice was cute, I would go off on them. I'm not saying this to be mean, but it is probably because you lack solid concepts that he can identify with and he doesn't want to hurt your feelings and tell you he thinks it's silly.

The above poster is right, also explain to him the benefits of meditation which have been confirmed by science.
And perhaps remind him that we have a very limited view of reality due to the fact that visible light is only a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Okay, thank you, guys. And I understand why ou wouldn't like the whole "cute" thing, but I also think it's cute when people are religious in certain ways. And as for the dream thing, I define dreams as visions/images/sxenes and such that are played in iur minds while we're sleeping. And yes, I'm fairly new to a lot of things, but I still want to talk about them with my boyfriend and have deep conversations about meaningful subjects, including my beliefs and such. And as for him thinking it's silly... If he really thought that, he just wouldn't say anything if he didn't want to say it's silly. That's the kind of person he is. But thank you ^.^
