What are we all doing for Mabon. I keep hearing about Samhain but it's too early for that.

i agree, everyone's going on about Samhain, but what about Mabon? i love Mabon! though Samhain has always had a special place in my heart, you can't skip one Sabbat because you like another more.

well my coven's canceled, so it's solitary for me. i tend to have an early thanksgiving with my coven, friends, and family. we each bring some food or drink, and i make apple butter as gifts. this year, no one can come, so i have a bunch of apple butter waiting for Samhain. oh well. i decorate my home in fall colours, get it ready for winter, and, like i said, have a circle with a meal. also go for a walk in the woods to watch the leaves turn.

Mabon is traditionally a harvest festival, sort of a Pagan version of Thanksgiving.

My coven actually celebrated Mabon early with a celebration last Saturday that included a ritual to give thanks to the Gods for our many blessings and then a lovely feast for all of us.

I'll be celebrating the actual date of Mabon with my husband. As we're in a new home and we're moving into the dark half of the year we're going to use the time to set in place new wards around our home. But I'll also be fixing a special harvest feast with plenty of autumn fruits and vegetables.

For those who may not be that familiar with Mabon, there is great information on the history of the Sabbat to be found at http://www.witchessabbats.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=28
