Start with the basics: meditation, visualization, grounding and centering, and shielding. There are many many articles on this site that are deemed pretty helpful. The basics are building blocks, more or less, to magick. Once you have learned the basics and can practice them successfully, you can branch off to different forms of magick.

There is actually a lot of good information under the Articles Tab. I suggest reading the basics first...

Here are some links to help you:

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=71692-Starrie's "Starting Out" post

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=483942-AwakeTooLong's "Basics: Expanded" post

Also about.com is a good site for all kinds of info. Once there, put Wicca basics in the search bar. It will take you to basics of magick, too. I was on it for hours just looking and reading. And copy and pasted a lot of things to my computer.
Blessings!

don't elongate words, it's against the rules.

i suggest you find some books by Raymond Buckland or Scott Cunningham to help you. if you can't for whatever reason, look into the articles. a good place to start would be meditation. depending on your path you should learn about the holidays, deities, tools, rituals and history.

I agree, simple basics are always a good place to start.

But branch out and look them up from all over. For instance it is good to read Bucklands version but then read someone elses like D.J. Conway or Cunningham or Janet and Stewart Farrar too. Do not just rely on one version. Research and read all you can before deciding which is right for you.

Once yu have choosen your path it will be easier for everyone to direct you to authors, sites, articles, and post that will help you on your path but until then it will be up to you and how much you are willing to read and research.

So my suggestions would be:

The Witches' Way by Janet and Stewart Farrar

Moon Magick by D.J. Conway

Wicca for One by Raymond Buckland

Magical Herbalism by Scott Cunningham

The Crystal Awarness Guide by Legion of Light

These will help with basics in several areas and possibly help you figure out some stepping stones to start your path with.

Bright Blessings

The first thing to understand is that spellwork is not as simple as finding some spells on the internet, lighting a few candles, chanting some words and **POOF** magic happens. Until you understand how and why magic works and have mastered the basics it is unlikely that any spell you try to cast is going to be effective. I would recommend starting with some good books on the subject. I suggest the following:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Kraig
