Philosophy in Life

I'm not sure how many of you have ever studied philosophy in depth or looked into it any, but I have studied philosophy for the past 7 years. During this time, I have found several philosophers who have teachings that seem to me to be life lessons. For example:

The Buddha, founder of the Buddhist religion, was a philosopher. In his religion, some philosophical teachings were included. "Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at somebody else; you are the one who gets burned." This seems to be a life lesson, as this has proved true in my experience several times over.

Confucius is a Chinese philosopher whose teachings were more life lessons than many other philosophers I have studied. "When it is obvious that goals can't be reached, do not adjust the goals, adjust the action steps." This is one the best quotes I remember by him.

Epictetus was a Roman philosopher and Stoic. He taught tolerance and understanding. "All religions must be tolerated, for all people must reach the afterlife their own way," Tolerance of the paths of others is crucial if you wish to help them through problems.

This is a rather long post, but these are but a few of the many philosophers whose teachings reflect life lessons. What is your opinion?

Philosophy is a way of life, wisdom a lifelong pursuit :) There are many philosophers whose words are uplifting, many others whose words are the opposite, and still more whose words are in-between. :)
