Banishing

People have stated to me before that you need different forms of banishings for different entities. Is this true? If so, how do you know what to use? I do not want to hear the normal response of "do not banish it" or any similar garbage. It is not something pleasant, it was not in my home first and yes I did tell it to get the heck out after it refused to say why it is bothering me =/

I've found that depending on the individual and their religious views, it varies for what does and doesn't work when trying to remove an entity.

Just because holy water and/or an exorcism works for a Christian individual or household does not mean it would necessarily work for someone that follows Wicca or practices Shamanism, etc. From what I’ve found, some Native Americans believe that tobacco can be used to aid in the removal of angry spirits and the like, as well as by other means.

For example, my grandmother had a spirit in her home that was causing a bit of a fuss. She placed crucifixes on the second floor of her home, this is where the spirit seemed to spend most of its time, and asked her pastor to say a blessing in the home and on the second floor in particular. That seemed to do the trick. My grandmother is of course Christian.

At my old residence there was a spirit that was, what I would consider, malevolent. It would pull the covers off the bed and could be heard walking up and down the stairs for most of the night. At one point it even pulled me out of bed in the middle of the night. I was young at the time so I was unsure of how to remove it, so I simply moved to another room and tried to forget about it. As I grew older I began practicing and following the Wiccan religion and I researched spirits, hauntings, etc. That of course is where I found the information on sage, bay leaves, etc. I burned these herbs and performed a banishing of my own, the spirit activity ceased.

If you are Christian I would suggest you talk to your local Priest, Pastor, etc. They may be able to bless the home and assist you in ridding your home of the entity. You could also try burning sage, this seems to a a good all around herb to help rid an area of negative energies and the like.

If you are Pagan you may wish to burn herbs such as bay and sage, as well as performing a cleansing and banishing ritual of the home or area in which the haunting is occurring.

Sage may cleans out negative energy, but it does not always get rid of "malevolent entities". I burn sage on a near daily basis, because I have grown fond of the scent and for cleansing purposes.

I didn't mean to just burn sage and bay. I use them along with my cleansing and banishing rituals because I feel it helps give them strength.

That it does. Pardon me for my quick read and response. I am so used to hearing people state to just burn sage that I actually skipped over that part of your post. Man I need sleep =/

Basically it's like pests. If you find a spider, you use Raid. If you have a mouse, you use rat poison, traps or sticky paper. If you have rats (plural) you call pest control. And if you have cockroaches, you go to war, because everyone knows those things don't die easy! Only difference between physical pests and spiritual ones, is the spiritual ones don't die, but they can be repelled, stopped, pushed out, and tossed around. Afterward we put up protections to keep them from returning. They're not stupid, once they have been overpowered, they usually go away.

Thee are many many ways to get the same job done, but it's best to use the right action for the right situation. It depends on how you banish. If you use opposite forces (the being's weakness) to banish it, then yes, you would need to have an idea as to what it is to know what could counter it. Since most are malicious (when we decide to banish), positive, purifying energy isn't very pleasant to them. However most banishments are control -- pure force and willpower--therefore the only thing that must be considered is the strength of the spirit vs the strength of your ritual.

The other thing you must consider is if the spirit has attachements. If it has attached to a person, object, or location, then yes, banishment gets tricky. That's when exorcism comes into play, which is far more forceful and demanding than plain banishment.

Banishment is a kick in the backend and a door slam. Exorcism is holding up a shotgun with a big dog named Killer growling and snarling next to you.
