Is it possible to use spells without doing the basics?

It's not doing the basics. It's understanding and applying them, like a second nature.

That is a quite rare case, but its usually performed by people unaware of the power of their will.

If you are a natural caster, than yes. Some people are born with the ability to cast without ever picking up a book or knowing what magick is. If you've noticed that you have casted unconsciously, than picking up a spell and just doing it would work. BUT even a natural caster should learn how to control their abilities by covering the basics otherwise the magick could be wild and not turn out the way they intended. From my experience, people born with the ability to manifest energy without any previous guidance do so with their emotions being the lead source of willpower, while control is gained through learning to focus the mind which is what "the basics" teach you.

It's usually best to use any spell as a stencil for your own.. and the only tool ever "required" is your will, and tools are an invaluable helper regarding this. However I find it easier, and often more convenient for me to simply imagine a candle before me as I never have any privacy..
