this is more of a gardening question but it still relates to herbs in a way but anyways when is the best time to harvest sage and can i harvest on the first year that is is grown because this sage i have grown have been planted in june of this year (i have read confusing articles saying yes and no at the same time so i need some help on that part) i know they require less water than most plants and a less nutritious soil but the harvesting im not sure and what part of it should i harvest like leaves only or do i snap it right before it goes to the roots because i have seen some videos where they do that but the sage is over a year old that they do that to and when is the harvesting time for sage

You can "harvest" Sage at any time.If it is a small plant, then take leaves only. But the plant must be "controlled" because it can grow into an extremely large bush!
At one time, here in the UK, many homes did not have gardens.Housewives would buy a branch of Sage and hang it up to dry, and use for cooking.
