That's true. In my opinion, if you haven't seen results from a spell through an entire moon cycle then you might want to go ahead and repeat the spell. Now it might be that the spell simply takes more than a month to work, but repeating it isn't going to hurt anything and may help.

Spell maintenance does work and help, depending on the spell. Usually, when I cast a spell, it works for so long depending on what it is. When I feel the power dwindling, I recast it, even if its not super official. For instance, saying the words in your head again, or drawing a pentacle on paper may be enough. It really depends. Use YOUR inner judgment, and do what you feel is right.

I agree with the above posts. I usually like to use a piece of the original spell in each repeated ritual. So I never discard anything until my goal has been met. I like to cast using a sigil as a power point and keep whatever it was drawn/carved onto to carry with me and incorporate in a re-cast if necessary.

I burn my spells to seal the casting. If I do a healing spell and it does not take or it wears off, I just write and cast a new one. :-)

Burning my spells as a rule is less effective. I find that burying leftover material in a spell where i am trying to gain or enhance something, works best. Or keeping it. Making a charm or simply keeping it on my alter until i dont need to any more. But when im doing a type of banishing spell i like to dispose in running water. Even if its just the leftover energy of the materials and then dispose of them properly. I dont recast unless i feel that i have done something incorrectly that will cause a major change in the spell after its cast. After removing magic i will usualy change course either slightly or drasticaly depending on the situation, and try a different approach.

There's one spell that I make especially sure keeps charged. It's a Third Eye-Opening spell and to recharge it is a very simple procedure so it's not a nuisance. Through reading, I've learned that some spells are the "set-'em-and-forget-'em" type, while others need maintenance. I suppose it depends on, 1) the type of spell, 2) on whom you're casting, and 3) what the original creator had in mind.

This may be a rookie question but if you do a binding spell on someone can you do other spells like a love spell or a break up spell to the person?
