Cleansing Items

I have a pentagram that was given to me from my great grand mother, however I was not to wear it for the last two years(personnel reasons). I would like to cleanse any negative energy from this item before I wear it. But not sure the best way to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly helpful and needed. It's been 2 long years since I've had any contact within the Wiccan community and I'm a bit lost.

There are a lot of ways to cleanse items. You could pass it through incense smoke, place it in salt water, and so on. Personally, I use both methods (depending on the item I use one method or the other.) I either pass the item through the incense smoke or dip it in the salt water and visualize the smoke or the water removing all unwanted and/or negative energy that might be attached to it.

Thank you so very much. I forgot sometimes the best way is the simplest way.

Cleansing doesn't just get rid of negative energy, it 'resets' an object back to the residual energy it gives off. Now, there are theories that even cleansed objects still have trace ammounts of the energy it has come in contact with before (which allows abilities like psychometry to still take place when utilized). What I would do is work with the Pentacle and cleanse out the energy you don't need while still being able to keep the energy of your grandmother. It's all up to you.

There are many, many ways to cleanse an object. Some other ways are to wrap the object in herbs used in purification. To let it sit in living, running water. To bury it at the base of a large tree for a few days. To let it sit out during a storm, so things are washed away. To fumigate it (pass it through smoke). There are even more options, but these are the ones from the top of my head. Good luck!

"Resetting the object back to neutral would be a good thing. So much energy and most of it bad was associated with this. My great grandmother from what I heard dabbled into many shades of grey. And I tend to walk more on the white side. Or just plain follow rules a bit better. I will do what I can. Thank you so much for you help.
