Author's Note: According to Wikipedia: "Unverified personal gnosis (often abbreviated UPG) is the phenomenological concept that an individual's spiritual insights (or gnosis) may be valid for them without being generalizable to the experience of others." ***Everything that I write should be considered my own "UPG", as we are all different with our own needs, experiences, and perspectives. Why I Chose Iris I chose Iris not only for the Goddess who is a messenger for the gods and goddesses, but also by extension the rainbow, and the lens that turns white light into all the different colors. An iris is a flower, and I do love the beauty of nature. An iris is also the thin, circular part of the eye that controls how much light hits the retina of the eye by the diameter and size of the pupil. Why I Chose Shikoba Shikoba is primarily a Chocktaw Native American Indian word that means feather. I follow a more Native American approach to life and nature, though I am also eclectic and use things from everywhere! According to Native-net, "Native American feathers are an important symbol of the Indian way of life. It is used to represent freedom, power, wisdom, honor, trust, strength, and much more." My Patron God and Goddess. Even though Iris is a Goddess and the first part of my spiritual name, she is not my Patron Goddess. I respect her for who she is and what she represents. Thoth and Seshat are my Patron God and Goddess, scribes and deities of knowledge, wisdom, and writing. Other Deities I follow: Iris Obatala What I Love. I love writing and learning new things as well as learning others' perspectives The Journey I'm On I'm a Shaman practitioner primarily, but I am also a Bard. I'm eclectic, picking up things from everywhere to use in my daily life and practice. My Spirit Animals I have four primary Spirit animals. My Spirit Guardian is a front-two-footed Winged Serpent (a Dragon) whose lower body can change into anything that's needed. My Spirit Totem is both the Phoenix and the Thunderbird. My Spirit Guide is the Moth. My Spirit Overwatch, which is linked to to my etheric energy and etheric body, is the Mole. I am, among other things, a Shaman, a Bard, and a solo practitioner of martial arts--which I use in my energy work. I have just started on making a Book of Shadows (Novus Senca) and a Grimoire (Senui Senco). In my BoS, I'll be writing new things that I discover and experiment with. In my Grimoire, I'll write things that have withstood both the tests of time, and change, for me. I work doing construction. Even though I live paycheck to paycheck, I know that I'll be okay because Spirit has always been with me and has protected me time and time again unwaveringly. Every day, I make it a point to learn something new. I look at each person, each animal, each part of nature, and even man-made objects as teachers. I would love to help make this world a better place. My Journey: Though I didn't know it at the time, my spiritual journey started when I was ten years old. I had been going through some things, and was just leaving my biological mother to live with my biological father. Having been moving to a new state (in the USA), and even though one of my sisters was with me, I felt alone and adrift. I had my first Spirit Journey, though I didn't have a name to put to it at the time. I called out for help, and was answered by my Spirit Guardian. My Dragon is a Winged Serpent with two feet near the front of her body. The lower half of her body is able to transform into anything that is needed. She accompanies me on every Spirit Journey that I take, and helps me--along with my other Spirit Animals--along my life's Journey. So, what is my Path? I am an eclectic Shaman, and I love to read and study and learn new things. I love to write and aspire to be an author. I am drawn to everything and take the good that speaks to me. I use many tools in my practice, though I need none. I enjoy having a hands-on approach. Recently, I have acquired a Drum (which I've been wanting ever since I was eighteen or nineteen) and a Thundermaker (which I didn't even know existed until I saw it) from a local spiritual shop from which I live a half hour's drive. I use crystals and have an altar. I am working on a Book of Shadows and a Grimoire. I often go on Spirit Journeys and speak with my Spitit Animals. I lucid dream and travel to not only the Shamanic Worlds, but also to the Astral Realms and my Inner Planes. I do have an altar with which I work to do specific things, primarily Shadow Work and meditation. There is so much more that I want to put in here. But this is too long already. :) Until then, Blessed Keep. *~*~* 201709 Dated-ish (I created this profile for an Amino group back in September of 2017, if I recall correctly)
