Personal Bio
Hello, my name is Zak, and I'm 20 years old. I am a college student who is finally coming to terms with the fact that having a spiritual life is incredibly practical and valuable. I'm currently studying (studying, not practicing; for reasons I'll go into in a minute) varieties of both Western and Eastern mystical traditions. These include, but aren't limited to; Hermetic Qabalah, Wicca, South American Shamanism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. I'm sorry to report that I have not worked much through any of these traditions. This is why I'm on this site to begin with. I'm having a hard time finding a tradition I truly identify with, so I am exploring many different paths, to hopefully come across one that I can fully engulf myself in, or at least one that I can identify with better than most. I'm here to explore and learn and absorb as much information as I can, to hopefully, someday, find my path. And what a glorious day that will be. As for what I HAVE practiced, I'm experienced most with meditation, although I have no claims to even scratching the surface of what is possible. I also own the Thoth Tarot deck, which I occasionally read from, and most of the time, I end up with some useful insight. I know that philosophically, in relation to the Tree of Life, I am interested in the balance of the Middle Path. I am not interested in a purely Right or Left Hand Path, because both interest me equally. The philosophy of the Wiccan or Pagan also are easy for me to identify with, as far as the divinity of the Earth and its nature. Not to mention the Wiccan Rede is, as far as I can tell, an infallible statement to live by. I come from years of rigid atheism, which, of course, I am breaking out of, in search of experiential spirituality/religion. This desire has been formed after a succession of experiences with psychedelics, the spiritual gateway of the ayahuasqueros. So, for me, being able to talk about gods, goddesses, angels, demons, etc. using words such as, thought-forms, symbols, consciousness(es) and so on are very conducive for my prominent "logical" or "scientific" mind to wrap itself around. Do not misunderstand, I am not averse to the use of the former set of words, but explanations of them using the latter set help me resist my inner skeptics urge to pull back and away from those ideas. In short, I am here to learn and explore the mystical. I have no idea what awaits me, but I am sure that it's interesting.
