Statement of Purpose

"Hail Brothers and Sisters! We gather tonight on this December's eve to celebrate the winter Festival of Yule. It is the birth of the Divine Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. For Christ is the sun of righteousness, and in this long cold winter, the birth of Christ promises the return of the sun. It gives us hope and courage as we make plans of renewal in the warm months ahead. We stand together united in the spirit of the season, when hearts are light [with] the love of our Goddess and our God. Let us be thankful for all we have: let us remember the spirit of giving unselfishly of ourselves when so many around us are in need! Let the solar light shine in our hearts and in our minds as the celebration of Yule begins!"

The Winter Solstice

"The Season of Winter is upon us! The wheel of the year turns onward! Winter is the time of the year in which all nature rests. many of her animals slumber while many continue to scurry about providing for their nests. The trees are barren of leaves and snow lays on the ground. The air is crisp and clean. A winter wonderland is truly delightful as the Earth's beauty takes on a new face."

Lighting of the Seasonal Candles

[Lighting of the White Candle]

Blessed be the season of Yule. Blessed be the Virgin Mary, earthly mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, for on this night, we celebrate! Hear us on the eve of this winter's solstice as we assemble in the cold and quiet, as we give thanks for this winterland of enchantment on this longest night of the year! Our Goddess Mother - our Father God, we thank You for the many blessings of Yule and all this season stands for. Let us celbrate and sing praises. Joy to the Heavens on hight! We sing and dance a carol and a-wassailing we go. The Yule Log burns bright on this winter's night with smiles all a-glow. We sing and dance and carol with hope of winter's snow."

[Lighting of the Green Candle]

Season's blessings we now ask for yule this winter eve of solstice time. We sing and dance and make merry as we celebrate this Christmas time. Apples, oranges, and lemons, nature now decorate our doors and our boughs. Our trees brightly lit to show our rejoicing and our vows. The fresh evergreens bring us harmony. December magyk and the mistletoe, the holly and the ivy, sets all our hearts a-glow. The greenery is a promise that spring will soon be here - so let us make joy and melody tonight and in our hearts throughout the year!

[Lighting the red candle]

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them. And the Glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of joy, which call be to all people. For unto us is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord, and this should be a sign unto you: ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in the manger." And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men."

The Messianic Kyriat

For unto us a child is born - Unot us a son is given. And the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called: Wonderful, Counselor, Eternal God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, and He shall reign forever and ever: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

(light first wick) Faith is the reason that we cannot explain. (light second wick) Hope is the feeling and the desire, the same. (Lighting the third wick) Love is the purpose, in Christ Jesus' name! Brightly does the Yule Log burn, never-ending does the Wheel Turn. Banish sickness and evil spurn, by the sun of righteousness, we live and learn!
