It has to be dark and you have to be inside and then you say this chant three times.
"Mermaids of the deep, I wish to be able to have the power to heat water. I shall be able to look at water and move my hands a certain way and it shall make the water hot all of a sudden. But I must be careful if thy power is out of control it shall create a fire. So grant me with this power. So mote it be."
Say that chant three times and then go to bed and when you wake up you will have to power to heat water.
