A beginner-friendly guide to preparing and performing spiritual baths for cleansing, healing, protection, and drawing blessings. Learn the steps, timing, and rituals to make your bath a sacred practice.

Spiritual baths are more than relaxation—they are intentional rituals for cleansing and empowerment. They can be used for almost any purpose. Here’s a simple guide for beginners: Preparation: Boil herbs of your choice in water, steep for 3–9 minutes, then strain and add the liquid to your bath (unless the ritual states otherwise). Timing: For attraction (love, prosperity, luck, healing), bathe at dawn or before sunrise, preferably during a waxing or full moon. For cleansing (removing negativity, anxiety, or anger), bathe at sunset, ideally during a waning moon. Of course if an urgent need arises you can take them at any time. Washing Direction: Wash upward when drawing blessings, and downward when removing negativity. Bless the Water: Pray, chant, or set your intention before entering. Speak affirmations like: “May this water cleanse and renew me”. You can also add salt that has been prayed over with psalm 23 to the water. In the Bath: Spend at least 15 minutes meditating, visualizing your goals, praying, or simply sitting in silence (what the ritual calls for is always the way to go) but never longer than 30 minutes. Disposal: Respectfully release the bathwater—towards the east at sunrise, at a crossroads, or to nature. The ritual will call for the appropriate method most of the times. Aftercare: Clean the tub with saltwater, air dry your body (that means no soap, lotion etc after the bath), and dress in clean clothes (preferably white). Sleep on fresh sheets to seal the ritual’s energy. For best results, baths are often taken over an odd number of consecutive days (1, 3, 7, or 9).
