Lugnasadh/Lammas Lore:
The Sabbat is named after the sun God Lugh Lmhfhada. His name is taken from the Irish name for the month of August,Lnasa. Lugh was a great warrior and king of Ireland. He was the father of the famous warrior, Cu Chulainn.Lugh's foster-mother,Tailtiu, passed away on the first of August. She cleared the plains of Ireland for farming and dried from exhaustion.
Lugh heldenach (also known asAonach), the first celebration of its kind, as a way to honor his mother. It was later known asenach Tailten, and was a celebration that brought people and communities together to commemorate a death.
