These sound more like superstitions than charms.

They are, however I found that many superstitions are the way charms and some spells were preserved. It may take a bit of doing but with research one can turn these into proper charms or even spells.

I don't suggest throwing rice into the air out of doors. Unless I am mistaken I remember it being bad for birds. If it is dangerous for them I recommend to do it indoors.

Seriously in the example you listed. It's common sense. Don't use anything on an area of your body that doesn't belong there. Don't ingest things that specify ''Do not ingest.'' Don't throw rice into the air out of doors, when it is common knowledge that birds can not ingest it, and it is harmful for them. I found this same list of superstitions on Tumblr. This is an issue with information being spread that utterly lacks common sense. When I write up a recipe that requires the use of a stove here on som I always try to list common sense cautions. ''When you are finished cooking make sure your stove is off.'' Or, ''When taking the pan out of the oven, use kitchen safety tools such as mitts.'' This is why witchcraft on social media can become an issue. Someone finds a cool list of superstitions and they post as is, plagiarism. They don't take the time, to look over what they copy and paste, to add cautions where needed or edit out plain bad ideas, and it becomes detrimental to others, themselves, and the natural world.
