How to use candles and magic to get what you want.

Candle Magic Safety First.. never leave a candle unattended. Do not place a candle near open windows or where it can be caught or knocked over by pets or passing by etc. Never leave a candle burning out of sight. Always make sure the candle is fully extinguished at the end of the ritual or before disposal. Be aware of a lit candle at all times.

When you were a child, did you have a birthday cake? With candles on? Did you blow them out and make a wish? You cast your first magic spell at that moment. The only difference between then and now is you have more understanding of how magic works, you are not wishing for something out of thin air, you are evolving, changing, growing with the aid of the magic that is in and around you.

Traced as far back as the Paleolithic era, Candle Magic has been around since the dawn of time. Candle magic is one of the simplest forms of spell casting and is a good introduction to magic for newcomers to the Craft. It is a method of magic that does not require a lot of ritual or complexity. As it is so simple it can be performed almost anywhere. Candle spells are simple and straightforward to perform. Candle magic can be used for changing habits, protection, psychic development amongst other things. As candles are really easy to purchase it is a very simple start on the magic path. Learning to focus, visualize and concentrate, all things necessary for magic can all be learnt with candle magic.

Mystics at the dawn of time knew the planetary day and hour for performing rituals. The timing of any ritual is important, astrology, color, fragrance and intent should all be carefully considered when you prepare for any ritual. The candle or candles used should be in the colors appropriate to the spell you want to cast.

The use of candles empowers the meditation or ritual. Candle magic is usually part of a ritual, meditation or invocation. As with all things magic you must believe in the power of the candle to manifest change if it is to work for you. Many people associated candles used in ceremonies with the occult, black magic etc but they have been a part of all magic since the original use of candles themselves. spells and rituals in witchcraft

The basics of candle magic are threefold First you must decide on a goal Then you must visualize the end result Then through concentration and focus, you manifest that that goal into reality, you give life to it. First you must be of clear mind before you light your candle. It is your intent in the words you put into the ritual that gives the magic meaning. As the candle burns your magic begins, as the flame consumes the candle, it releases the energy of your hearts' desire into the energy of the Universe

Some think it is best to leave a candle burn down until it is done and use it only once for each ritual, but if you repeat the same ritual with the same candle over a few days staying in prayer or meditation while the candle burns it adds power and demonstrates the depth of your devotion to the ritual. The candle you use for a particular magical ritual retains this charge you place in it for that spell and that spell alone. It can only be removed by burning the candle out completely.

Note : You can not reuse a candle for any other ritual. Also the candle must not be damaged as a broken candle will not store and release the energy you place into it.

How should you light your candle? The simplest way is to use a match. Sulfur is associated with the element of fire and the sun. It is also used in protective magic by witches as it is used to drive away any negativity. As a match is made of sulfur it becomes part of the ritual.

I will point out that it would be incorrect to say that candle magic goes back to the Paleolithic as candles were first invented by the Romans thousands of years later. Otherwise it's an accurate article.
