Easy Chakra Meditation (Stress Reducing)

With everyone doing their EOCs and last minute cramming, I thought that posting an easy, calming meditation would be fitting. It's not very complicated, and doesn't take much (if any) experience.

Okay guys, I'm back with another meditation for you!

I get a lot of questions from my friends asking how to stimulate and meditate on the seven main Chakra. I do a pretty basic one every morning when I wake up to "check in" so to speak.

In case you don't know what the seven Chakra are called, what color they correspond with, or where they're loacted, here's the list:

First is the Root Chakra (Muladhara) It is located near the base of the spine, right around the perennial area. The Root chakra corresponds with the color red.

Second is the Sacral Chakra (Svadhistana) This chakra is in the reproductive area,(near the womb in women) or just below the belly button. Orange is paired with the Sacral Chakra.

Third comes the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) The Solar Plexus is positioned above or around the navel. The color that is associated with this is yellow.

The fourth Chakra is the Heart Chakra (Anahata) This Chakra is in the center of the chest, and is said to relate to the color green.

The fifth Chakra is the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) As it says in the English name, it is located on the throat, and is represented by a light blue color.

Number six is the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) It is placed above the brows in the space between your eyes. The color that it is associated with is indigo.

The last of the seven we will be meditating on is the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) It sits on the top of your skull, much like a crown, or a halo. Purple or white symbolizes this chakra.

Okay, so now that you've become more familiar with the Chakra and their placement, let?s move onto the meditation.

First, get into a comfortable seated position. If lotus pose seems a bit uncomfortable, try criss-cross applesauce or sit on a padded chair. If you feel any discomfort, try to eliminate it.

Remove all distracting sights, scents, or noises. If lighting incense or a candle helps, you can do so, but if it isn't a regular part of your meditation, or if it feels foreign, I would advise against it. If you live in a noisy home, I suggest listening to binaural beats or Tibetan healing bowls. But as I said before, if you find these things to be distracting, don't integrate them.

After getting yourself into a nice, simple posture, begin to notice your breathing. Are you breathing heavily, or shallowly? Within the first few minutes, try to develop a pattern of four counts in and five counts out. If you feel like you're becoming frustrated, slow it down and rotate from in through the nose to out through the mouth. Do this for about one minute, and focus on letting go of all of your worries, doubts, and appointments you may have. You have set aside time that you have to clear your mind and relax.

Sit up straight and close your eyes if you haven't done so already. Shift your focus to the base of your spine where the Root Chakra is located. Feel the energy swirling within the Earth, and let it latch onto this red flowering Chakra. (You can let your Chakra look however you would like when meditating, but for the purpose of this meditation, I will refer to them as lotus flowers.) Let the nurturing Earth's love and raw power fill your stability to its maximum level. The red energy of the Root Chakra can flow out and around you r knees and thighs. All of your stress is gone, because you are rooted in the Earth. Repeat your favorite Root mantra, such as "I am grounded?".

Imagine the root of the Earth crawling up to your Sacral Chakra. Allow it to connect to this orange lotus blossom, full of creativity and desire. You have a great love life, are full of amazing ideas, and have a wonderful time when you hangout with friends. Feel the Sacral energy form rings around your lower body. Again, use a mantra of your choice. Ex: "I am creative and full of romance".

Continue to let the Earth's root flow towards the Solar Plexus Chakra. Feel the vine connect with the flower, and feel confidence seep out and around your waist. Whatever is stressing you out, whether it be a test or a co-worker who won't stop hounding you, it's a miniscule problem. You're full of confidence, and you are the light you need to follow. Nothing is more important than your happiness, and you know it. A mantra such as "I am a confident and capable person" is a good example.

As the Earth's root tugs on your Heart Chakra, really tap into that self-love and those good vibes that you are willing to share. Picture the vivid green light shining out for all to see, bringing a smile to your face, and the faces of those around you. A wonderful mantra that not only makes you, but others feel loved would be "I love the world, and the world loves me back".

The Throat Chakra is caressed lightly by Earth's abundant energy, reminding you that speaking up and letting your voice be heard is important. A light blue lotus flower puffs out a shimmering light, enveloping your neck like a scarf. Reassure yourself of the power you have to assert your opinions and beliefs with grace by using a mantra such as "I speak with eloquence and let others be heard".

The soon-to-end vine creeps up to the Third Eye Chakra, sparking your intuition and intellect. Whatever decision you'll have to make soon, this Chakra can help you feel confident on your decision. If there's a tricky question you've got to answer, tap into that Third Eye energy of yours to do what feels right. You can rely on the answers your gut throws to you from time to time, and the radiant indigo lotus on your brow represents this ability. My favorite Third Eye mantra is "I see" simply because it is simple, and reveals that I do see. I know that my Third Eye is stimulated and active on my life.

Lastly, the Crown Chakra is tapped by Earth's gracious gift. It unfurls its lofty white-purple petals, releasing your belief in a deity, or confidence in your higher-self. Feel the energy of this Chakra comfort your mundane thoughts and melt the last bit of stress away. You can trust a higher being or thought form. You can be at peace. I use the mantra of "I am in a higher plane of consciousness" to stimulate the Crown Chakra, but there are many different ones to choose from, as with any Chakra.

Feel the bliss of being aligned and centered, and be grateful to the world, to the universe. You may have some stress and issues, but they all seem small in comparison to the big picture.

Relax for a while, maybe fall into a session of deep thought meditation, or even drift off into an easy sleep. Treat yourself to a little extra today, you've earned it.

Well, I hope you liked my meditation guide! Namaste my friends :)
