This will tell you about Candle Magick, the candle color meanings, working candles, and the special white candle.

Candle magick, as it says, is doing spells, rituals, etc with a candle. Candles as you all know come in different shapes and sizes and different colors. Candles should be suited to the spell you are doing. For example, if you are doing a money spell, luck spell, or prosperity spell, you would use a green candle. For love, you would use a red or pink candle. When done with your spell, do not blow out your candle. This blows the magick away. Snuff out your candle with a candle snuffer, or if you do not have a candle snuffer, using something that is not flammable will do.

Before you begin in candle magick, go and research the various properties of candles and research how they are used. Of course, when lighting your candle, you want to have it no where near flammable items and on a flat surface. If you are to put your candle in a candle holder, make sure they are not near any curtains or any tapestry that is flammable. Be very careful not to have your candle near any children if you have any or any pets if you have any. Be safe and cautious for one little candle can cause a fire.

Candle color is especially important to candle magick. Some candle colors that are associated with the Elements (if you work with them/study them) are:

  • Earth~ Green
  • Air~ Yellow
  • Fire~ Red
  • Water~ Dark Blue
  • Spirit (Depending on Beliefs)~ White.

White candles are a very important color candle due to its properties and uses. A white candle represents the fifth element (depending on belief) called 'Akasha' otherwise known as Spirit. A white candle is usually placed on the altar to represent Spirit. The properties of a white candle are: purity, spirituality and greater attainments in life, truth sincerity power of a higher nature, and wholeness. A white candle can also be used to represent a color candle you do not have. It is like your 'wild card'. Take into account the many uses of white candles because a great candle like this can surely help you in your work.  A white candle is the 'wild card' of candle magick. The reason I say this is that if you do not have a candle color that you need, you may use a white candle in its place. To do this, carve the name of the color on the candle.

For example, if I needed an Indigo candle and I did not have it, I would carve 'Indigo' on a white candle. You should carve with a tool that is used for carving or a needle. Be careful not to cut yourself! Working candles are used whenever you conduct magickal work. Some examples of this are writing spells, writing in your Book of Shadows or creating spell bags (Mojo bags).

Your Working Candle should be brand new, never used. Working candles are usually white, which is neutral, but you may use a candle that is the color of your element. If I am not mistaken, Green is usually used for Earth, Yellow for Air, Dark Blue/Royal Blue for Water and Orange/Red for Fire. You can put your candle outside in the sunlight/moonlight for 12-24 hours until it is ready to use. If you feel it is not ready yet, take a clear quartz crystal and put it next to the candle so it can clear any energies you want to get rid of. Now you think of what you normally work with in magick.

Draw symbols that have to do with your workings. Draw the Triple Goddess, a pentagram, or the symbol of the five elements if you wish. It is entirely up to you what to put. To consecrate your candle after you have done what was said before, say ?With the Goddess and God working for me and through me, I charge and consecrate this candle for the use of positive magic and positive witchcraft only. For the good of all and according to free will, so mote it be."

Your candle should now be ready to use. Some dress their working candles in many different ways. You can dress your candle however you like, with oil or a herb. There are many ways you can dress your candle.

Really well done. I would also add a header for each section to make it easier to read and find information, but that is just a minor thing.

I would like to note, while you should not reuse candles, you can. One would reuse a candle if they are doing a seven day spell, or wish to cast the same spell. The more you use a candle, the more Magikal energy you charge. If this is a one time casting, obviously do not. This is why you should be aware how long a candle will burn as you might not want to spend twelve hours on a love spell. But, if this is a self-love spell and you enchant the candle for self love, you can use it each time you preform a self-love ritual. Birthday candles can be used in spells. Why you do not reuse candles is because you enchanted them with a specific energy. You can cleanse them and reuse them, but it is not recommended, especially if you carved a sigil into the candle. Some claim you undo your spell by cleansing the candle and reusing it. Personally, I have never reused candles, so I cannot say what happens, so draw your own conclusions. You can melt them down to reuse, most reuse candle wax, add some herbs/oils/crystals and pour them into new molds and through this process, you have cleansed and recharged the candle into something new. Call it alchemy if you wish.
