What are wands used for?

You hear off of movies like Harry Potter that wands are magick in themselves. Well that is very much not true. You are the magick. You also see that the wands react to words in Harry Potter, also not the case. Wands do nothing more then act like a arm extension and a training wheel of sorts. It helps regulate the energies so that there are no energy leaks. This is for unexperienced witches or wizards, Shamans..ect. People go around (especially little kids) thinking the wands are magick themselves, well that is a fib in itself. No wand has powers. It depends on the caster. Remember a wand is like a arm extension. It moves with your energy. Nothing more.

How do I bless a wand?

Blessing a wand is actually quite simple there are a couple of ways that I know of. Taking the wand and placing it inside holy water, and chanting to your god, or placing it over candle fire, some religions, they say that brings demonic power.

The second way. Take it to your alter, but first dress your alter either in black (evil magick) or white (Good blessing) but besides the names, it really has no effect on your decision for using your magick. Then bestowing your wand(s) in your hands, and praying to your god(ess). Also remember to fill it with your energy (aura).

Would a wand of Bloodwood and pink ivory be a good choice

Sep 03, 2020
If you believe it will work then yes but I’ve seen YouTube videos that people can have as many wands as they want but if your comfortable with the branch or wood of your choosing then yes it will work.

Would a branch from any apple tree count as apple wood? I have only found apple wood to be described as a particular kind.

Yes.

Can i make my own wand made of crystal like clear quartz, amethyst or selenite..? Thx

Many people do choose to make their wands from crystals or other stones. I see no reason why you could not do the same.

Some people will also make a wand from a glass or metal rod, or a glass or copper tube. You can cap the tube, glue on crystals (or bind using silver wire) or cap the tube after inserting what you desire. Personally I discourage the glass tube option, due to how fragile they can be. They require an extra dose of care as one drop could lead to glass shards all over your ritual space.

I am a beginner. I am on a budget. What wood do you recommend?

You don't need to spend money on a wand. Go into the woods and connect with the energy around you. Whatever you're drawn to is what you'll use [while a branch from a tree is best, you could use a stuck from the ground if it's strong enough. Be sure to ask the tree if you can have the branch and leave an offering of thanks] some carpenters and lumber places have piles of free wood you could grab. If you're wanting to purchase a wand, you can do that, just do your research on the item and the crafter. [also, you don't need a wand to practice magick. I've been a witch for 18 years and don't own a wand. I use an athame or my finger to direct energy]
