I want to start making my own spells, I feel that ones people write themselves tend to work better and are more likely to work than ones they get from other people.

But how do you go about writing a spell? For example, if I wanted to make a spell to banish demons and negative energy away how would I know if I should add something like sage to it, or if all I need is a pentacle and a chant? Or does it not matter as long as the intention is the same? And what if I'm not necessarily a good writer? Like I really suck at things like poetry, so how would I know my words were truly affective? Or what element would work for each spell etc.?

Any advice on writing a spell?
